WWE News: Vince McMahon Determined To Make Brock Lesnar Vs The Rock Match For ‘WrestleMania 33’
WWE Superstar Brock Lesnar has made quite an impression on the WWE since he decided to come back to the company years ago. WWE instantly thought of major matches he could take part in, and one was done right away when he fought John Cena at WWE Extreme Rules. Fans saw a different side of things as the non-PG Lesnar made sure blood was seen right off as Lesnar opened Cena up the hard way. The match was brutal and although Cena won, Lesnar made a huge impression and has been put in major roles since.
He has pretty much been the blueprint for WWE to look at when it came to past stars. This is both good and bad. Lesnar works per date deals and usually just works televised events only. WWE gets a lot out of Lesnar when he is there, as his matches are usually “can’t miss.” This is good for WWE, but they also feel that they can do bigger things with him. That brings us to WrestleMania 33 with WWE already considering matches for the program.
According to Daily Wrestling News, WWE wants to do a Brock Lesnar vs The Rock match for the event. Most assume it would main event the show, but it is uncertain as of now. WWE feels that Lesnar was wasted a bit at WrestleMania 32 in his match with Dean Ambrose. Most fans feel the company watered down that match and truly took away a lot of time it could have had to put other stuff out on the show that fans felt wasn’t needed.
Lesnar was wasted, not because of the Ambrose match, but because of how WWE allowed it to be executed. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has been wanting to do the Rock/Brock match for some time now, but things have always gotten in the way of it. Ideally, he wanted to do it or Rock vs Triple H this past year at WrestleMania 32 but Rock could not contractually work a full-on match. He did do a segment and squash match of sorts with The Wyatt Family, though.
Vince is determined to make the match happen with The Rock and Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33, however. With the event taking place in Orlando, Florida, which is just a little over 200 miles from Miami (Rock’s hometown), this match would be a perfect addition to the card if McMahon can make it happen.
It is unknown how WWE will set it up, but most feel the best way to do it would be to bring up the infamous WWE SummerSlam match the two had over a decade ago.
Speaking of SummerSlam, that appears to be around the time we’ll see Brock Lesnar make his return to the WWE. The idea is for him to feud with Bray Wyatt and The Wyatt Family here. The match may have occurred earlier had it not been for Bray’s injuries. Wyatt had back trouble earlier this year, and he is now nursing a calf injury. The Wrestling Observer claimed Bray is set to miss six to eight weeks with this injury.
This means Bray will certainly be available for SummerSlam, and that would be a perfect addition to what seems to be shaping up as a master card for the event. Many believe WWE will treat SummerSlam as a “WrestleMania re-do” because people like Wyatt, Randy Orton, Cesaro, John Cena, and Seth Rollins should all be available around this time. WWE is believed to be making the show four hours yet again this year as well.
The Rock could very well be used here as well and a Brock Lesnar rivalry could begin at this very event. We will have to wait and see how WWE sets it up, but it does look like McMahon wants it to happen, so it probably will.
