Trailer For Oliver Stone’s Biopic Of Edward Snowden Is Out, Secret Meetings Revealed
The official trailer of the Edward Snowden biopic has been recently released, and Oliver Stone spilled some details on the film. The director admitted to having had secret meetings with the film’s central character for a year to complete the much-awaited flick.
A trailer containing only words narrated how Edward Snowden became an Army recruit at the age of 20. He then joined the CIA at 22 and became an NSA contractor at 26. By the time he was 29 years old, he had become the most wanted man in the world.

When he became an NSA contractor, he was tasked to find terrorists in the internet haystack. However, he instead discovered a secret government surveillance program that tracks everyone’s phone calls, emails, and SMS. The leak covers mostly everything even if data owners have not publicly put out the information.
The Oliver Stone film was based on Luke Harding’s The Snowden Files as well as Anatoly Kucherena’s Time of the Octopus.
In the official trailer for the biopic, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character was asked why he wants to join the CIA. He replied back saying he wants to help his country make a difference in the world.
The video clip also showed Snowden’s girlfriend, who is being played by Divergent franchise actress Shailene Woodley. In a scene, Snowden was heard telling his girlfriend that he was given a new task but could not tell her all about it.
The Oliver Stone movie trailer further showed a man saying that the secret government program is like Google search. However, instead of seeing only what people have made public, they can also get to know things people think they are keeping private.
Snowden was then heard saying that the NSA is really tracking every cell phone in the world. He also said that there is something going on inside the government that is wrong which he cannot ignore.
In the next part of the sneak peek of the Oliver Stone film, the most wanted man can be seen going inside the NSA and downloading the data he has figured out. He then placed the SD card on a Rubik’s cube so as to get through the security. As he got through the guards, he can be heard saying that he was made to do what he did, and he does not know anyone else who can do such.

This was the point where the trouble started for Edward Snowden and the people he shared his discovery with. After that, he leaked classified government documents and information to the media.
He was charged in 2013 by the U.S. Department of Justice with two counts of violating the Espionage Act and theft of government property. His passport was revoked by the U.S. Department of State, but he was granted temporary asylum by Russia in 2014.
