Son of Ravens Ray Lewis Charged With Sexually Assaulting Two Women In SC [Breaking News]

Ray Lewis III, son of Baltimore Ravens star Ray Lewis has been arrested in Conway, South Carolina for the sexual assault of two women. Ray Lewis III, 20, is a defensive back at Coastal Carolina, and is charged with an assault that allegedly occurred on January 23rd, and involved an 18 year old girl who was incapacitated by drugs and/or alcohol.

The Charlotte Observer reports that Ray Lewis III is being investigated in another sexual assault, which police believe will be added to the existing complaint. Ray Lewis III, formerly of Apopka, Florida reportedly turned himself in yesterday, and was released on $10k bond. The University spokesperson, Martha Hunn explained that Lewis was suspended from the school football team upon his arrest.

According to WBTW, the official charge for Ray Lewis III is criminal sexual conduct, 3rd degree, and happened at an apartment across the street from the campus of Coastal Carolina University. The two alleged victims, 18 and 19 years old, were said to have been assaulted on the same night, and were both treated at a local hospital.

Lewis’ legal team, attorney Tommy Brittain out of Myrtle Beach, and attorney Ed Garland out of Atlanta, GA, released a statement regarding Lewis’ arrest.

“In response to the charge of criminal sexual conduct, Ray Lewis III states that he is not guilty of any criminal conduct. He is not guilty because no crime was committed. The sex with the accuser was entirely consensual. At the time of the sexual encounter, the two girls involved were fully conscious of what they were doing and knowingly consented. We are confident that a thorough evaluation of the facts will show that there was no crime committed.”

Ray Lewis III has quite a legal team behind him, and his lawyers are all partners in their respective firms. Currently, Lewis is listed on the 2016 Coastal Carolina roster as a corner back. His bio states that he is a transfer from his father, Ray Lewis’ alma mater, University of Miami after being on the team for two seasons, but never playing.

The Baltimore Sun says that Ray Anthony Lewis III, son of the Baltimore Ravens Ray Lewis is represented by top lawyer Edward T.M. Garland who says that he is convinced that Ray Lewis III will be found not guilty, if the charges are not dismissed first.

“We are confident that a thorough evaluation of the facts will show that there was no crime committed.”

Former Baltimore Raven, Ray Lewis, could not be reached for comment on son, Ray Lewis III’s arrest, and ESPN, which employs the elder Lewis, declined comment. Initially, the report on Ray Lewis III said that Coastal Carolina University had suspended him from school, yet at this time, Lewis is only suspended from the football team.

Deadspin has revealed that both women who claim to have been assaulted by Ray Lewis III submitted to rape kits. The police were contacted by the hospital at that time, and after months of investigation, the full report was delivered on April 25th. There was considered enough evidence at this point to make an arrest.

Ray Lewis III made news when he was recruited by the University Of Miami, but after two seasons with the team, Lewis had not played a down. He transferred to Coastal Carolina University where he anticipated getting some playing time,

Do you think that this would have made national news if Ray Lewis III was not the son of Ray Lewis?
