Anderson Cooper Claims On ‘WWHL’ That He Wasn’t Asked To Join ‘Live’

Just as the behind-the-scenes drama at Live With Kelly and Michael, which is soon to be minus Michael, seemed to be simmering down, now the behind-the-scenes wrestling is just choosing a new lane. Now fans want to know who will be the co-host of Live. Possible replacement Anderson Cooper was cornered with questions about Ripa and Live on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

According to the Inquisitr, Anderson Cooper has his hands full right now with his project with his mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, called Nothing Left Unsaid, which is a documentary about her life, loves, and losses. Anderson Cooper has been promoting the HBO documentary on all media, including with friend Andy Cohen on WWHL. But Cooper can’t avoid questions about the future of Live.

But the touring for Nothing Left Unsaid will end soon for Anderson Cooper, and although he still has his show, Anderson Cooper 360, and press dealings with the primary and general election, the Daily Mail is reporting that Cooper could still make time for Live With Kelly.

Anderson Cooper was on Watch What happens Live last night with his mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, promoting Nothing Left Unsaid. But Cooper seemed blindsided by the question that came up. Someone called into the show with a question for Cooper about whether or not he would join Kelly Ripa on Live, or whether he would like to co-host Live on a permanent basis.

The bottom line: Anderson Cooper didn’t say no about working with his friend, Ripa, full time on Live.

“Listen, I love Kelly and I think that show is… Kelly is the heart and soul of that show. and it’s going to go on and continue to be great and I wish Michael the best in his new endeavor.”

He also stressed that he is happy with his current position.

“Look, I’m very happy at CNN.”

But Anderson Cooper tipped his hand and admitted that working with his friend Kelly every day would suit him. However, Cooper admits that he can’t turn down a job that he hasn’t been offered yet.

“It would be a dream to work with Kelly, but nobody’s offering anything…

The best follow-up question would be, “If you were offered the job on Live, would you take it?” It is very likely that Kelly Ripa will bring up Anderson Cooper as a front-runner for the position since she is holding all the cards for the future of Live.

E! News says that Anderson Cooper admits that he is a bit of a fan of Live and wishes Michael Strahan the best on GMA. Although Cooper is smart not to reveal his answer to the Live question, it is clear to fans that he is at least fond of working as a temporary co-host on Live. Considering how Ripa is still feeling double-crossed, she would prefer a friend like Cooper by her side, rather than an unknown entity, regardless of chemistry.

The other name tossed around as a front-runner was Andy Cohen, who has been very clear with a “no thank you” for the Live position, which will need to be filled sooner rather than later now that Michael Strahan will be leaving Live next month instead of continuing until September.

Do you think the position on Live will be offered to Anderson Cooper, or will they go through the whole co-host try-outs, including Anderson Cooper?
