Is ‘Dexter’ Returning? Michael C. Hall Addresses The Rumors Of Reboot [Video]
The rumors have been flying for a while now that Dexter might return for another season. When the show ended, Dexter Morgan got away with all of his crimes and some viewers were not happy with this ending. A lot of various shows are getting a reboot and fans of Dexter have been hopeful that this one would return as well. TMZ got the chance to catch up with Michael C. Hall, and he addressed the rumors about Dexter coming back for another season.

This video clip starts out with the reporter asking Michael C. Hall about the rumors about a Dexter return. He asks him if it is true that Dexter is coming back for Season 9. Everyone knows that this show could not happen without Michael C. Hall and be a huge success like it was before. At first, he doesn’t seem to want to answer, but then he tells them that he doesn’t think that is true.
Next, they ask Michael C. Hall if he would come back as Dexter Morgan if he could. He teases them that he is still here, but then laughs and explains. He did say “anything’s possible, but I have no plans” when they asked if he would be interested in coming back as Dexter once again. Next they ask about a few celebrities and if he thinks that Dexter would have killed them, but Michael C. Hall quickly explains that these people are reality and the show Dexter was not.
Christian Times shared earlier this month about the Dexter rumors that were flying. It is understandable that rumors like this would happen since Prison Break is coming back and so did other shows such as Full House. Dexter had a ton of fans who would love to see it return once again.
If this show were to come back again, they would need to find a way to bring back a lot of the stars that were on the original. Dexter Morgan was no longer in Miami, and he would need to return there for the show to go on the way it was before. The only other option would be for Dexter Morgan to start over somewhere new and go back to his killing ways. They would have needed Michael C. Hall for this to work out, though. Back in 2014, there was some talk about a possible spin-off and at the time, Hall seemed interested in playing Dexter again. Here is what he revealed at that time.
“I can’t even wrap my mind around that. And it’s all just theoretical until there is some sort of script reflecting somebody’s idea of where it could possibly go. But it’s hard for me to imagine what that would be. Yeah, as far as playing Dexter again for an undefined amount of time, that’s a little daunting to consider. But doing another television series—there’s a lot of amazing stuff on TV. I don’t want to do that right away. But I wouldn’t say never to that.”
So it looks like the idea of Dexter coming back again is gone. Michael C. Hall basically shared that it is not something he is working on at this time. If they were to decide to do it, that has not happened just yet. You never know what will go down in the future, though.
