Beyoncé’s Parents Speak Out About ‘Lemonade’ — Did They Confirm Jay Z Cheated?
Beyoncé’s parents are speaking out about her surprise new visual album, Lemonade, and are shedding some light on rumors that the pop superstar may have revealed that husband Jay Z had cheated in a number of the album’s candid tracks.
After fans speculated that Beyoncé may have alluded to a cheating scandal on Lemonade, particularly in the scathing track “Sorry,” Beyoncé’s dad, Matthew Knowles, spoke out about the cheating rumors to E! News.
When quizzed on just who the “Becky with the good hair” is that Beyoncé suggested the song’s cheater call in “Sorry,” Matthew had a pretty cryptic response to the cheating rumors surrounding his daughter and son-in-law.
“Let me tell you who she’s talking about, can I tell you who she’s talking about?” Matthew, who served as Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child’s manager for a number of years, told E! News this week. “She’s talking about you. You put that in context for you personally. She’s talking about you and everybody that is you, that’s who she’s talking about.”
Matthew Knowles then admitted that Beyoncé’s Lemonade was created to be relatable and suggested that fans probably shouldn’t take some of her more scathing lyrics about cheating too literally.
“I think that’s the beauty of her creativity and I think that’s what makes it so special, is that it relates to everyone,” Knowles admitted to E! News. “Every one of us have been disappointed before and have had to go through the grieving process of anger and, you know, disappointment and then acceptance and forgiveness.”
Matthew then went on to admit that he thinks Beyoncé’s Lemonade is causing such a stir because it’s “universal” and deals with issues most people have experienced.
“I think that’s why this again is touching so many people, because it’s universal. Everybody can relate to it,” he said.
But while Matthew Knowles appeared to play pretty coy when it came to confirming or denying reports that Jay Z may have been caught up in a cheating scandal, Beyoncé’s mom appeared to be a little more forthcoming.
Tina Knowles Lawson took to Instagram to praise her daughter and Lemonade on April 24, where she posted a snap of herself holding a glass of lemonade, with a pretty intriguing caption that fans speculated may have alluding to cheating.
“Toast to lemonade. B worked so hard on this project day and night!,” Beyoncé’s mom captioned the snap. “It was soo important to her to offer something that would bring about healing and hope to the universe! No matter what you’ve gone thru in life you can always come out on the other side!”
While Tina didn’t clarify in the photo’s caption just what Beyoncé had gone through, Perez Hilton speculated that Knowles Lawson’s cryptic caption could, in fact, be referring to infidelity.
The blogger wrote in a post on April 26 that Tina’s coy photo caption could be “referencing Jay’s bad boy ways” while also alleging that some tracks on the album could actually be Beyoncé’s way of taking aim at Matthew.
“This could also be a reference to Beyoncé’s issues with her father Mathew Knowles. The pair have a fraught relationship which is documented on the song, ‘Daddy Lessons,'” Perez speculated of Beyoncé and Matthew this week.
Beyoncé has so far stayed mum regarding reports that Lemonade alludes to Jay Z’s infidelity, but that hasn’t stopped her most dedicated fans from calling out both Rita Ora and Rachel Ray on social media, accusing them of being the alleged “other woman.”
What do you think of Beyoncé’s mom and dad speaking out about Lemonade? Do you think Jay Z really cheated on Beyoncé?
