‘X-Men Apocalypse’ Spoilers And Rumors, Wolverine’s Role Takes ‘A New Direction’
The X-Men: Apocalypse final trailer premiered yesterday with a shocking Wolverine cameo at the very end. Previously we had been told Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine would not be appearing in the Apocalypse film, so the cameo came as a pleasant surprise. X-Men fans are now wondering what role Wolverine will play and how much of him will we see in the new X-Men movie? Most importantly, will actor Hugh Jackman reprise his role as Wolverine?
Wolverine’s cameo in X-Men: Apocalypse was recently reported on by the Inquisitr.
In the final X-Men: Apocalypse trailer we see a hallway with fallen soldiers scattered across the floor. Mystique enters the room with the line, “well, you’ve been busy.”
“We had a little help,” replies Cyclops.
The next thing we see before the X-Men: Apocalypse trailer cuts to the credits is Wolverine’s virtually indestructible adamantium claws sliding out from in-between his knuckles.
Although X-Men fans are taking the new Apocalypse trailer as a confirmation Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine, Bryan Singer’s statement to Empire after the final X-Men: Apocalypse trailer premiered has put doubts into some fan’s heads.
“Make of that what you want. I will say, it’s not simple,” Singer stated. “There’s something more pivotal that occurs with that. It hints to a sequence that again fits within the canon of all six movies, and the birth of a new direction. It’s not insignificant, nor is it simply just a throw-in… It’s not the only shot you’re gonna see, let’s put it that way.”
X-Men: Apocalypse rumors have been circulating the internet for some time now speculating Wolverine’s character will be taken on by a new mutant. The Independent reported on the rumor of character X-23 taking over the role as Wolverine. X-23 is a female clone of Wolverine. She has the same regenerative powers and retractable claws. In the X-Men comics when Logan dies she takes on his mutant name of Wolverine.
Jackman has stated numerous times the third Wolverine movie will be the last time he’ll play the clawed mutant, which opens the door for X-23 to step in and take his place.
Is this what Singer meant by “the birth of a new direction”?
Taking a second look at the end of the X-Men: Apocalypse trailer, the clawed hand certainly does not appear to be a female’s. Hugh also teased fans by tweeting a clip of the trailer with his alleged cameo.

There’s no reason why both Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and the character X-23 can’t appear in X-Men: Apocalypse. One thing is for sure: Jackman has been keeping in Wolverine form which is evident from a picture he tweeted of himself working out back in March.
