Donald Trump Promises To Reshape His Image In Closed-Door Meeting With GOP

Just a day after his Indiana rally wherein he called Senator Ted Cruz “Lyin’ Ted” and Hillary Clinton “Crooked Hillary,” Donald Trump promised to reshape his image, according to his new campaign chief.

According to reports, the GOP front runner promised to change his image during a closed-door meeting with Republican Party leaders. The presidential nominee delivered his message through his aides just days after his big win in the New York primaries.

Reports say that his election team fears that his tone and the policies against Muslims and immigrants that he has been voicing out might turn off voters. Five states are set to have their primaries on Tuesday.

Trump has a clear lead of more than 300 delegates ahead of his closest opponent, Senator Ted Cruz. However, many feel that the front runner could fall short of 1,237 delegates, which is needed to cement his Republican nomination.

In case he falls short, the Trump campaign team fears that he’ll lose during the contested July GOP convention, in which the nominee is chosen through negotiations among party figures. Given his standing in the race, not many Republicans like his tone and his attitude. His campaign team thinks that he might not be nominated for the post which would leave Ohio Governor John Kasich and Ted Cruz to go head to head.

As per the recording during the closed-door meeting, the senior aides reportedly talked to Republican leaders and said that he has been projecting an image, but that part will now be evolving. Newly hired senior aide Paul Manafort said that whenever the GOP front runner is out on stage, he is only projecting such image for a purpose. The campaign chief noted that Donald Trump knows he has to moderate his personality, and the negatives are set to change as his image is going to be transformed.

The real estate mogul’s standing is low among female voters after making offensive remarks about women, expressing his views on abortion, and making comments towards the Texas senator’s wife. Analysts are saying that the New York win might have proven the fact that his display of a softer side during his campaign in the area enabled his win.

Paul Manafort added, “You’ll start to see more depth to the person, the real person.”

He also noted that it’ll be tough in the upcoming primaries specifically in Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware as these three states last voted for a Republican presidential nominee in 1988.

The change in his image came after he said that transgender people should be given the freedom to choose the bathroom that they feel most comfortable with. He criticized the bill passed by the North Carolina governor recently. However, he said that having a third bathroom in establishments would be too costly and that things should just stay the way they are.

Despite the many changes set to happen in the future for the campaign of the businessman, as well as his surprising stance in the transgender bathroom bill issue, Senator Ted Cruz still called his rival a man “pretending to be a conservative to try to fool Republican primary voters.”

Ted Cruz Claims that Donald Trump is a Fake Conservative

The Texas senator went on to say that Paul Manafort’s statement regarding Donald Trump playing a part is all an act. Cruz also noted that Trump’s stance on the transgender bathroom bill is not proper as he would never allow his daughter be alone in a restroom with an adult man who identifies as a woman. He pointed out that such situations present danger.

Donald Trump and his team have yet to comment on the recent statements of Ted Cruz.
