British Prime Minister Reaches Out To ‘Divisive And Stupid’ Trump, Wants To Make Amends Just In Case He Wins Presidential Bid
The British Prime Minister, David Cameron, is allegedly reaching out to GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump after calling him “divisive and stupid.” Despite his harsh words against the GOP candidate, the Prime Minister doesn’t seem certain that the business mogul won’t pull of a presidential win. Therefore, he has asked his advisers in Washington, D.C. to reach out to Trump in a bid to make amends with the man who could end up being the leader of the free world.
The Daily Mail reports that David Cameron is attempting to bury the hatchet with GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump. Cameron has made a series of harsh critiques of Trump in recent months calling his rhetoric “divisive, stupid and wrong.” However, with Trump still dominating the GOP primary election, it seems that Cameron is hoping to begin positive relations with the businessman.

While Cameron called out Trump for his unconventional rhetoric, he did say there would be one positive thing about Trump visiting the U.K. Cameron pointed out that if Trump were to come to the United Kingdom he would unite the people against him.
“If he came to visit our country I think he would unite us all against him.”
Cameron seemingly indicated on numerous occasions that if Trump were to be elected leader of the United States, it could potential harm the “special relationship” that the United Kingdom and United States have shared over the years. However, it seems we can expect to see David Cameron step away from his harsh criticism of Trump as the GOP candidate continues to pave a path to the Republican nomination. While Cameron doesn’t seem to have much in common with Trump, his advisers note that it only makes sense for the Prime Minister to engage with the businessman to ensure the relationship starts off on a positive note.
“It’s a well known job of our ambassadors and embassies to know the political leading figures wherever they are in the world and to engage with them. Obviously as we get close to the point where nominees for the U.S. Presidency are decided it makes sense to ensure we have got good links to those candidates.”
It is unclear how Trump will respond to Cameron’s advisers when they reach out to his team. The GOP front-runner has enraged some of the European community by calling London “so radicalized” that police are afraid for their lives.
“We have places in London and other places that are so radicalized that the police are afraid for their own lives. We have to be very smart and very vigilant.”
According to RT, while the Cameron advisers are trying to reach out to Trump, they note that the business mogul is an especially frightening prospect for presidency as they have “no idea” where the billionaire is getting his ideas and information about the U.K. from which they find concerning.
“The truth is that we don’t fully know where he’s getting his information or ideas on the UK from. That’s what is so scary.”
Though the businessman is somewhat “scary” and unpredictable, Britain’s ambassador to Washington, Sir Kim Darroch, says he will be reaching out to Trump to build a bridge of friendship while reporting back to Prime Minister David Cameron following current President Barack Obama’s visit to the nation. Reaching out to Trump has been deemed a “top priority” for Darroch following his big win in his home state of New York.

Though Cameron is hoping to mend relations with Trump, he still hasn’t fully backed down from his past statements made about the businessman. Instead, Cameron seems to be stepping back from his criticisms by noting he is always “in awe” of American elections.
“As for the American elections, I’ve made some comments in recent weeks and months. I don’t think now is the moment to add to them or subtract from them. But I think just as a prime minister who’s been through two general elections leading my party, you always look on at the U.S. election in awe at the scale of the process and the length of the process. And I marvel at anyone who’s left standing at the end of it.”
Though Cameron, when pressed, wouldn’t degrade Trump further, President Barack Obama took the bait by laughingly noting that “fortunately, we’re term limited” when discussing the possibility of Trump as president.
What do you think about Britain’s Prime Minister attempting to mend relations with GOP front-runner Donald Trump? Do you think it is too late for Cameron to rectify relations following the “divisive and stupid” comment?
