Mariah Carey Honored By GLAAD, Experiences A Wardrobe Malfunction Exposing Nipple Petal

GLAAD announced recently that they will be honoring Mariah Carey at the 27th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York. It was also relayed that Lee Daniels will be presenting the award to the superstar during the ceremony that will be held at the Waldorf Astoria New York on May 14.

For her avid advocacy of the LGBT community, Carey is to receive the LGBT media organization’s Ally Award. As the organization stipulates, this specific award is presented to a “media figure who has consistently used their platform to support and advance LGBT equality and acceptance.”

Celebrities including Janet Jackson, Cher, Russell Simmons, Elizabeth Taylor, and Patti LaBelle have received the award in the past ceremonies.

Sarah Kate Ellis, GLAAD CEO, spoke about the contributions of Carey, as Billboard shares.

“Through her music and outspoken support, Mariah Carey has inspired and empowered countless LGBT fans across the globe. She is a longtime ally and friend to the LGBT community who has worked tirelessly to move acceptance and inclusion forward.”

Laverne Cox is to host the awards ceremony, which is to honor media for inclusive representation of the LGBT community. The show is also to “fund GLAAD’s work to amplify stories from the LGBT community and issues that build support for equality and acceptance.”

Early in the year, 101 nominees for the show were released. The list included public figures such as Lilly Wachowski, Demi Lovato, and Ruby Rose. Robert De Niro is also receiving the Excellence in Media Award.

Mariah is just the star to receive the ally award, as she truly is an advocate and never ashamed to put herself out there for a good cause. However, the star recently put herself out there in a whole different way when she experienced a slight wardrobe malfunction while in Paris.

The Mirror shares details about the slight appearance of one nipple of the superstar.

“[O]ne of Mariah’s mini-Mariahs popped out to say hello (albeit covered by a nipple petal) as she wore a low-cut black dress and showed her toned body. Mariah was also sucking on a lollipop at the same time and didn’t look bothered whatsoever, which is exactly what we expect from the queen diva.”

It’s not like Carey to be phased by events that put her curves and physique out there. She is clearly proud of her form and figure. This is even more evident seeing as the diva threw her very own “Mariah Carey”-themed party where all guests were to dress like the star.

Carey has gone through a complete transformation after dropping a massive amount of weight in the past couple of months. Likely the weight-loss is in relation to the star’s upcoming nuptials with billionaire beau James Packer. The wealthy businessman proposed to Mariah back in January when he presented the star with a massive rock that made media headlines for weeks following the proposal. The publication shared how the ring was also on full display for all to see at the event.

“Her engagement ring from the billionaire – which is reported to have cost him £8million – was also firmly on show for all to see (you can hardly miss it, though).”

As the Inquisitr recently reported, Mariah was also sure to share her condolences and shock over singer Prince’s passing. The Mirror relays the star’s heartfelt words.

“He was a friend to me too and he talked me through some times I really, really needed somebody. He was an incredible person if you didn’t ever get to meet him and I’m sure his music touched every single person in here. So, let’s have a moment of silence for Prince if we could please.”
