Ashley Darby Says It Was ‘So Necessary’ To Put Karen In Her Place On ‘RHOP’ Reunion
Ashley Darby has wrapped up her first season of The Real Housewives of Potomac, and she was shocked at how things unraveled this season. Ashley was brand new to the social circle in Potomac, and she wanted to get in. Karen Huger, who saw herself as the Grand Dame of Potomac, felt that she was the one who had to either accept or reject Darby. However, it sounds like Ashley didn’t see it that way, and she decided to confront Karen at the Real Housewives of Potomac reunion.
According to a new Bravo report, Ashley Darby is now revealing that she was shocked to see how all of the ladies attacked her and her husband at the reunion special. The ladies thought that Michael was creepy and possibly gay because he slapped Andrew on the butt during a party. Despite getting plenty of criticism, Ashley was ready to tackle the comments head-on.
“Watching Gizelle talk about my soul mate like he was a trick at a peep show was nauseating. My marriage is very special to me and those types of comments will bring out my ratchet side. The worst part of the situation was how she tried to backtrack on her comments – I guess watching yourself act like a buffoon on TV will cause a change of heart. Karen doesn’t like being called out on her sh–, which is exactly what Michael did. She can’t expect to talk smack about Michael in her interviews and not have Michael address them. Perhaps she should’ve better prepared Ray to fight for her honor,” Ashley Darby revealed to Bravo, sharing that Gizelle shouldn’t be talking about her marriage.
It is interesting that Ashley Darby is calling Gizelle Bryant out on her comments, as she had plenty of things to say about Darby’s marriage. Fans of The Real Housewives of Potomac quickly learned that Gizelle had divorced her husband, because he was caught cheating with another woman. The other woman came forward and shared the news. Even everything she’s been through with her own failed marriage, it’s surprising that she’s so critical of Ashley’s marriage to Michael.
Another issue that has haunted Darby this season is her comment about her sex life. She admitted that her husband had been using the pull-out method to avoid getting pregnant. This may be something that Ashley would talk about with her close friends, but her Real Housewives of Potomac co-stars were not happy about it. And Karen Huger was quick to let her thoughts be known, and the comments caused Darby to lash out during the reunion special.
“It was so necessary!” Ashley Darby revealed about the confrontation on the reunion, adding, “In the end it was rather anticlimactic, though, because there’s no rationalizing with delusion. I will say that even though Karen has a few decades on me, I think there is a lot we can both learn from each other. The next lesson will be how to have healthy discussions like educated adults.”
All of the ladies are rumored to have signed on for Season 2 of The Real Housewives of Potomac, so it will be interesting to see how Ashley and Karen get along next year. According to Huger’s own blog for Bravo, Huger revealed that she isn’t completely done with Darby. She does want to give her another chance, and this chance could happen on the second season of the show.
