Jerry Seinfeld Will Be Opening Act For Margaret Cho After Devastating Stand-Up Fail
Margaret Cho’s career is about to get a shot in the arm from Jerry Seinfeld, who has agreed to work as her opening act to try and make up for her dramatic stand-up comedy fail last month, where she claims she was jet lagged, but the audience thought she was under the influence. But Seinfeld has decided to lend a hand to a friend and be the opening act for Margaret Cho. Who could ask for a better comedy moderator than Jerry Seinfeld?
According to the Inquisitr, Margaret Cho had an awful stand-up fail recently in New Jersey at the Stress Factory when she did an entire set on rape and on how some people are entitled. She yelled at the audience, and screamed that they wouldn’t be getting a refund. The audience supposed that she was drunk or high, but she claims that she was just jet lagged. But the evening was bad enough that old friend Jerry Seinfeld wants to come help her by opening a few comedy sets.
The New York Times is reporting that Margaret Cho not only bombed in New Jersey, but a clip of her ranting at the audience was also all over the internet. But afterwards, Jerry Seinfeld offered to come to the aid of Cho, and an invite was sent to the same audience to make up for the awful comedy evening from hell. It was Seinfeld’s idea to see if Cho essentially could get a do-over.
“So as I was talking with Margaret about this show last week during the taping in L.A., we started wondering, wouldn’t it be something if we could go back to New Jersey, back to that club with the same audience and try to make things right? Have a discussion where both sides — comedian and audience — could talk about what happened? And then both of us could do a show — a sort of redo for the audience?”

Jerry Seinfeld also offered to open and moderate a discussion to attempt to smooth over the whole situation for Cho, and for those who were at the Stress Factory that night. Seinfeld says that he will also be taping the entire show for his show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Margaret Cho admits that things went wrong on that night at the Stress Factory, but says she believes in the club, and wants to make things right.
“This show is the first time anything like this has happened in this industry, and I am proud to stand up for this club and give us another chance together.”

TMZ reported that Margaret Cho’s show that night at the Stress Factory was a disaster, but other comedians have surely bombed there in the past. But it’s good to have a friend like Jerry Seinfeld, who admitted to the fans that came to Cho’s show that night at the Stress Factory that when something like this happens, everyone walks away with a bad taste in their mouth.
The show featuring Cho and Seinfeld will happen tomorrow night, and Seinfeld has stressed that as someone who cares about comedy, comedians, and comedy clubs, this will be a unique opportunity.

This is being seen as a classy move on the part of Jerry Seinfeld, and pretty brave of Margaret Cho, considering how bad the last show went at the Stress Factory, and the social media backlash.
Let’s hope Thursday night’s show with Margaret Cho and Jerry Seinfeld is a learning experience for everyone.
Do you think this comedy redo is a good idea for Margaret Cho, and do you think it was a good idea for Jerry Seinfeld to join her?
