David Hasselhoff Wants Ex-Wife’s $21K Alimony Dropped So He Can Retire

David Hasselhoff is tired of working to support his ex-wife’s lavish lifestyle. The Baywatch actor has filed legal documents requesting for his five-figure monthly alimony to ex-wife Pamela Bach to be cut off or significantly reduced.

According to court docs reviewed by People, Hasselhoff has paid Bach more than $2.3 million in alimony alone since their 2006 divorce. David and Pamela were married for nearly 17 years and had two daughters before they split in 2006.

David Hasselhoff claims that his hefty $21,000 a month alimony bill has made it impossible for him to plan for his retirement. The actor pointed to his age and listed a $122,000 monthly income in his legal documents,

“I am 63 years of age, and am at an age when I should be preparing for retirement and not having to continue working in order to pay [Bach’s] support.”

David also described his 52-year-old ex as “an attractive woman in excellent physical health” who is perfectly capable of finding work to support herself. The actor claimed Bach continues to enjoy a “privileged lifestyle” on his dime and that she has made no “reasonable efforts” to support herself since their split.

According to E! News, Hasselhoff’s own monthly expenses are so high that he has actually had to take money out of his own retirement fund to pay his alimony. In addition to paying alimony to Bach, David provides a home for both of their grown daughters, Taylor Ann and Hayley, who live with him.

David Hasselhoff’s ex-wife Pamela has several acting credits on her resume, including appearances on Baywatch and Viper. Like Hasselhoff, Bach even appeared on The Young and the Restless, although it was 20 years after he starred on the show. Pamela played Mari Jo Mason in 1994, while David starred as dreamy Dr. Snapper Foster from 1975–82 on the CBS soap. Bach’s last TV credit came in 2011 on Celebrity Big Brother, but she has not taken an acting role since her high-profile divorce from Hasselhoff.

There was plenty of mudslinging during the Hasselhoff divorce. According to People, leaked court documents painted an ugly picture of drunken escapades and infidelity. In an interview on CNN’s Larry King Live, Bach blamed Hasselhoff’s drinking for the couple’s divorce, but she also made headlines when she was arrested for drunk driving in 2009.

While David Hasselhoff has said he’s never had to worry about a paycheck since his Knight Rider days, he has acknowledged his past partying got to a point where it was no longer fun for him. His rock bottom came when his daughter recorded him drunkenly eating a hamburger off the floor. The video went viral, and it was a wake-up call for Hasselhoff. Today, David Hasselhoff attends regular AA meetings and he wears his late father’s ring to help remind him to “stay on the path.”

In an interview with TV Choice, Hasselhoff said he got through the divorce with the help of his dad.

“My life’s really been 99.99 per cent up. I got a divorce that was bad, but show me a good divorce. I knew going in it was going to be hell, and I got through that with my dad.”

David Hasselhoff will appear in the upcoming Baywatch movie. His other recent TV gigs include a role as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent. But if his court case doesn’t go in his favor, the Hoff may have to put that Baywatch suit on a few more times to help fund his retirement.
