WWE News: WWE Legend Shockingly Appearing At ‘Payback’ And Will Be In Corner For Championship Match
Charlotte was the WWE Divas Champion for quite some time and is now the WWE Women’s Champion after a new belt and division was introduced at WrestleMania 32. Since then, she has been feuding with Natalya, and there has been a lot of involvement from Ric Flair throughout the program. Now, it appears as if he will be met by another wrestling legend as Bret “Hit Man” Hart is going to be in Natalya’s corner for the Women’s Championship match at Payback.
While the match is not officially listed on the Payback page of WWE.com as of yet, it was revealed tonight that the bout will take place at the Pay-Per-View in early May. As reported by Bleacher Report, that match was indeed confirmed at the Monday Night RAW taping in London (which is currently airing right now).
They did have a match recently on Monday Night RAW, but the feud is far from over. In that match, Ric Flair got involved on a number of occasions and certainly helped his daughter, Charlotte, hold on to the title that has been in her possession for quite a while.
That being said, the sides need to be evened out, and Natalya is looking at another legend and WWE Hall of Famer by the name of Bret “Hit Man” Hart. WrestleZone has confirmed that it will be announced on RAW this evening that Hart is going to be in Natalya’s corner to make sure that Ric Flair stays in check.
For months now, Flair has accompanied his daughter to the ring for her matches. Even though she’s extremely talented and can win enough on her own, his assistance has helped solidify herself as the top heel in the WWE Women’s division.
There is significant wrestling history in Natalya’s family tree as well. Her father is Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart, and he was a part of a legendary tag team known as The Hart Foundation with none other than Bret Hart. Neidhart and Hart are brothers-in-law.
Together, they won two WWE (then WWF) Tag Team Championships and dominated the tag team scene for 6 years. They were a tremendous heel team for a while. Then, they eventually went on to become a babyface team that were fan favorites for years.
After splitting up, they did go their own ways with Bret Hart becoming an incredibly successful singles wrestler. Neidhart ended up forming a new tag team with Bret’s brother Owen Hart and they did pretty well also.
Eventually, the Harts and Neidhart would team up with the “British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith and Brian Pillman to form the new Hart Foundation. It is still one of the most popular and talented stables in the history of professional wrestling.
Bret Hart was just recently in the news right before WrestleMania 32, as he told Total Wrestling Magazine that he wasn’t fond of the card at all. In fact, he hated the line-up of matches on the show.
“I’m just being honest and I have to say that this year’s Wrestlemania card is the worst Wrestlemania card in history. I won’t be watching it, I couldn’t care less about it. The characters mean nothing, the titles mean nothing. I’m embarrassed by it.”
Charlotte is the current WWE Women’s Champion, and she is going to be putting her belt on the line against Natalya at Payback. Yes, Ric Flair will be there and in his daughter’s corner, but he’ll be matched across the ring by Bret “Hit Man” Hart who will have Natalya’s back. It will be interesting to see if the legends up getting involved or physical in any way. Dueling Sharpshooters, anyone?
