Braintree Police Chief Russell Jenkins in Massachusetts is pleading for help from the public in locating a missing 3-year-old boy. The child was taken by his father, Raisul Kalam, 41, after Kalam allegedly assaulted someone Friday morning then fled the state. The police fear for the little boy’s safety, as reported by WCVB .
“We are appealing to the public for information to help us ascertain Kalam’s whereabouts and to assure the well-being and safety of the child,” Jenkins said.
The name of the assaulted victim has not been released.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Raisul Kalam as police continue to work with other law enforcement agencies to track Kalam’s whereabouts.
Both Braintree Police Department and detectives from the Massachusetts State Police determined that Kalam made his way to the Boston bus terminal at South Station with his son, as reported by Patriot Ledger . Kalam and the 3-year-old then took a bus bound for New York. The father and son exited the bus upon its arrival in Manhattan Friday evening at 9 p.m.
“The Braintree Police Department has concerns for the safety of Kalam’s son and is working with other law enforcement agencies here and in New York in an effort to locate him,” Jenkins told the Patriot Ledger .
