Yolanda Hadid Reveals She Was ‘Blindsided’ By David Foster Divorce: ‘I Didn’t Know Until It Happened’

Yolanda Hadid is opening up more and more about her shocking divorce from David Foster. While the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills heads into the reunion, Hadid revealed that her breakup with Foster was a huge surprise. In fact, the reality star admitted that she was blindsided by the split and didn’t know it was coming until it was too late.

According to E! Online, Hadid dished on her divorce during an interview with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live. As fans will recall, Hadid and Foster announced their divorce on the same day that The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills premiered its current season. Not only did the announcement take fans by surprise, but Hadid’s co-stars were also in complete shock.

“I didn’t know it was ended until Nov. 15. We had already wrapped shooting and the show was done,” Hadid shared. “I didn’t think that was the end of the road. I would have hoped to wait until I got 100 percent well.”

Cohen proceeded to ask Hadid whether or not she felt blindsided by the divorce. In reply, Hadid admitted that she had and revealed that the timing of the divorce was particularly difficult to manage. This is partly due to her health concerns as well as filming for the reality series.

In their official statement, David Foster and Yolanda Hadid cited a number of reasons for their breakup. This included conflicts in career, managing their relationship and, perhaps most significant, health issues. Hadid has battled Lyme disease for a number of years, which is the primary reason why the two decided to part ways.

“You can’t underestimate how much it takes for a man to take care of somebody that’s sick all of the time. David didn’t change; I’m the one that changed. And I guess this is the outcome of that,” Hadid explained.

While Foster has taken a lot of criticism for leaving Hadid because of her state of health, the reality star defended her ex-husband and stated that fans should not criticize him for the breakup. For his part, ABC News is reporting that Foster does not believe he did anything wrong. Instead, Foster shared that he is proud of how Hadid handled her battle with Lyme disease and expressed his disappointment with the doubts surrounding her illness.

“I have always had and continue to have the utmost respect and love for Yolanda, which is why it is so frustrating to see headlines questioning her chronic debilitating illness,” he stated. “I have been by Yolanda’s side over the past four years to the best of my ability as she battled with the complexities of her Lyme diagnosis. I am incredibly proud of Yolanda’s determination and mission to find a cure, and how brave and open she has been by sharing her story in the hopes of changing the future for others.”

According to Hollywood Life, Hadid has fought the dreaded disease since back in 2012. Although Lyme disease certainly played a role in their breakup, none of her co-stars on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills saw the split coming. In fact, during the season finale, fans witnessed how the ladies reacted to the surprising divorce news.

Meanwhile, Hadid has continued on with her life following the divorce. The reality star has moved out of her old home and into a new condo. Hadid also keeps in touch with her ex-husband, although the chance of a reconciliation is not likely to happen anytime soon.

Fans can watch Hadid as The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills wraps up its sixth season Tuesday nights on Bravo.
