‘Pretty Little Liars’: Sasha Pieterse And Shay Mitchell Talk ‘Emison’, Alison’s Mental State, And A Bittersweet Season 7

Pretty Little Liars has changed a lot during the past year. Even though the characters went through a five-year time jump and are now grown women, there is still someone after them. Recently, the premiere date for Pretty Little Liars Season 7 was announced, as previously reported by The Inquisitr. Now there is additional information on what to expect from the PLL characters. Sasha Pieterse and Shay Mitchell revealed that fans should expect a “bittersweet” season and that Alison DiLaurentis will go “bonkers.” However, the PLL stars also said that there is always hope for “Emison.”

When Pretty Little Liars last aired on Freeform (previously ABC Family), the ending went a little differently than fans expected. Instead of wondering for months who the villain was, one question was answered. It turned out that Alison’s (Sasha Pieterse) new husband, Elliot Rollins (Huw Collins), was behind the newlywed’s hallucinations. The horrible things Alison was seeing were not hallucinations at all. Elliot, who was also Charlotte’s (Vanessa Ray) psychiatrist, put on masks to make Alison think she was going crazy. In a sickening PLL twist, Alison and Elliot are related. Elliot’s mom is the secret twin sister of Alison’s deceased mother. The reason for the marriage and mind games were all because of family secrets and money.

It is only a matter of time before Alison finds out the truth about Elliot. However, she will probably need the help and support of Aria Montgomery (Lucy Hale), Hanna Marin (Ashley Benson), Spencer Hastings (Troian Bellisario), and Emily Fields (Shay Mitchell). Pieterse couldn’t reveal too many details but did say that Alison will continue to go crazy when Pretty Little Liars returns.

“To be honest, though, I don’t know how long it’s going to take Alison to find out [about Elliott],” Sasha Pieterse told TV Line during Freeform’s presentation in New York. “I can say that she’s going to go crazy this season, absolutely bonkers.”

As for “Emison,” the nickname given to Emily and Alison shippers, it seems every season fans of Pretty Little Liars are disappointed. However, Pieterse revealed that viewers shouldn’t give up hope yet. The PLL star stated that there is “always hope” for the couple. The actress who plays Emily Fields also had something to say about “Emison.”

“Everybody wants them together, right? ‘Emison’ End Game,” Shay Mitchell told TV Line regarding her feelings about Emily and Alison. “Honestly, though, I’m all for it. The fans really love ‘Emison.'”

Besides Alison going crazy and hope for “Emison,” what else can fans expect when Pretty Little Liars Season 7 premieres? There is still the theory that Elliot Rollins is not the only “big bad.” Elliot was the one going after Alison for her money. However, is there another villain that is going after Alison, Aria, Hanna, and Spencer in Pretty Little Liars? It seems so, since Elliot and his mother can’t be in multiple places at once. Even if Elliot’s target was just the DiLaurentis money, there is a strong possibility that fans will see more than one villain in Season 7 of Pretty Little Liars.

As for Emily’s personal crisis, there is still the issue of her missing eggs. This is something that Shay Mitchell said is “nerve-wracking” for the PLL character.

Also, the PLL stars stated that Season 7 of Pretty Little Liars is going to be “very bittersweet.” Sasha Pieterse explained that it is the beginning of the end. Pretty Little Liars has enjoyed a long run and continues to be successful. However, that can’t last forever, and the show must end sometime.

PLL fans won’t have to wait too much longer to find out what happens with Aria Montgomery, Hanna Marin, Spencer Hastings, Emily Fields, and Alison DiLaurentis. Yahoo! Celebrity reported that Pretty Little Liars Season 7 premieres on June 21.
