Jake Anderson Responds To ‘Deadliest Catch’ Q&A: What He Says About Sig Hansen And Elliott Neese
Capt. Jake Anderson of Deadliest Catch took on several question during a Facebook Q&A session that was held Tuesday, April 12.
Season 12’s newest captain of the Saga fielded a number of questions at home. Some of the are worth checking out!
When a fan asked if Sig has forgiven him for boxing in his crab gear in the first episode, to which Jake responded that he certainly hasn’t.
“I don’t think he forgave me for nothin’,” Jake answered unequivocally.
“He can do whatever he wants to me, but I’m not allowed to do anything at all that could possibly hurt his feelings, his pride, or possibly his fishing,” Jake said, referring to Sig, in response to a previous question. “So, of course he’s going to get upset at just about anything I do, whether it’s right or wrong. The funny thing is, everything I do is basically the same thing he would do because I learned from him. It doesn’t make any sense for him to cut me down by no means because he’d just be cutting himself down.”
The subject of Sig’s heart attack came up, and Jake said the captain is doing well. Jake leaked that Sig hasn’t stopped smoking, however.

As for spoilers on how he and Sig get along during the rest of the season on Deadliest Catch, he said he can’t divulge that information or he’d be kicked off the show. Jake encourages viewers to tune in and see what happens.
Another question Jake Anderson answered in the Q&A session was how he and Northwestern relief captain, Edgar Hansen, get along. Jake said that he and the crew of the boat are family and that it would “take a lot for something to come between” he and Edgar. Anderson notes that with Sig, it’s “the same kind of thing,” it’s just that “he kind of seems to punish me,” he remarked.
Jake answered a few other interesting questions that viewers had, such as does he have an alliance with other captains? The young captain said that he does, but declines to name who they are. Again, it’s a Deadliest Catch secret and people have to watch!
Jake’s best payday was between $60,000 and $70,000 and added that working with Sig, “you always make out in the end.”
Anderson revealed that the longest he and his crew on the Saga have gone without sleep was “46 hours.”
The Deadliest Catch star said all captains still experience sea sickness to a degree.
Anderson told several fans that he’s sober and that he doesn’t drink on the boat. He did reveal that boats are like a house, and if someone wanted to hide booze, they could.
Who owns the Saga now? The investor who financed the boat that initially captained by Elliott Neese. He owned a portion of it when Elliott owned the other half. When the owner bought out Elliott’s share, Jake obtained the vessel in August 2015 and it’s now his responsibility.
Speaking of Elliott, what did have to Jake say about him?
One fan asked Jake if he knows what the former Saga captain is doing now. He said last he heard, Elliott was running a cog boat and is bad-mouthing him in radio interviews.
“It’s one of those things you see in the industry,” Jake said, reflecting on Elliott’s obvious past issues with substance abuse.
He continued, “You can either choose boat, family, or partying. Usually we all end up choosing the wrong one and losing our wives.”

One question that caught Jake’s attention was someone asking if Elliott is his “man lover”? With a forced laugh, Jake said, “Yes, he is.”
Jake Anderson did address the tense situation between him and friend Jaimie Smith on the boat. He said “there’s more to that story” that will be explored on the show.
Did you watch Jake Anderson’s Q&A on Facebook? If so, what did you think?
