Donald Trump’s Kids Won’t Be Voting For Him: Ivanka & Eric Trump Won’t Be Voting For Dad During NY Primaries

Donald Trump’s kids won’t be voting for him during the New York primaries. Two of his grown children, Ivanka Trump and Eric Trump, won’t be eligible to vote for their father in the closed Republican Party primary because they missed the deadline to register with the party, ABC News reports. This information is confirmed by Mr. Trump himself.

“They were unaware of the rules and they didn’t register in time,” Trump said on Fox and Friends. “So Eric and Ivanka, I guess, won’t be voting.”

If voters wanted to change party enrollment, the deadline was October 9, 2015. The new voter register deadline was March 25.

Trump said that his kids “feel very, very guilty. They feel very guilty.” The GOP presidential front-runner said it was “fine” and that he “understands.”

Town Hall reports that only one of Trump’s four children who live in New York is eligible to vote, and that’s Donald Trump Jr. He’s a registered Republican. Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron, is only 10 and obviously ineligible to vote.

Interestingly, records from the New York State Board of Elections indicate that neither Ivanka Trump nor Eric Trump is enrolled in a political party.

No voter information exists for Tiffany Trump, a daughter Mr. Trump shares with ex-wife Marla Maples. She’s dating a Democrat, however.

Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric have all been surrogates for their father’s presidential campaign. It’s a bit of a shock that two of the Trump kids won’t be voting in the April 19 primary in New York. One would think that making certain everyone was lined up to at least vote for the person they’re campaigning for would be all worked out.

The Donald Trump presidential campaign is always full of surprises.

For his part, Trump has remained rather quiet the last few weeks. CNN reports that Republican strategist Ron Bonjean said this could benefit Trump by virtue of the fact he hasn’t hit his best stride recently.

“Lying low for a few days might play to his advantage to get his campaign organized and focused,” Bonjean said.

Trump has been less venomous in messages he posts on his Twitter account, but he did express frustration on Sunday with Colorado’s delegate awarding system.

“I win a state in votes and then get non-representative delegates because they are offered all sorts of goodies by Cruz campaign. Bad system!” Trump wrote.

He later wrote, “How is it possible that the people of the great State of Colorado never got to vote in the Republican Primary? Great anger – totally unfair!”

The real estate billionaire isn’t working the television circuit as hard as he was. Last week, he canceled several rallies in California. Campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks declined to explain why Trump cancelled the appearances but said he would be returning to the West Coast. No dates have been given as yet.

For now, Trump is focused on the New York primaries, a state where he enjoys a double-digit lead. His campaign could spring back from the debacles it encountered when Trump stumbled in an interview with Chris Matthews, saying that “there should be some form of punishment” for women if they were to seek illegal abortions. He later walked back that statement, expressing that the question was convoluted.

He deepened his troubles when he attacked Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’s wife, Heidi Cruz, and said he wouldn’t rule out using nuclear weapons in Europe.

Sometimes Donald Trump’s straightforward approach is the albatross around his neck.
