Carly Fiorina To Be Ted Cruz’s Running Mate? She Says ‘Never Say Never’

Carly Fiorina, former candidate for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, made headlines this week when she told press that she wasn’t ruling out the idea of accepting an offer to run as a vice presidential candidate instead. Since dropping out of the race, the former CEO of Hewlett-Packard has endorsed Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), the only candidate that appears to be within striking distance of the consistent frontrunner, New York City businessman Donald Trump.

Carly Fiorina, according to popular political newspaper The Hill, told WABC Radio’s “Election Central with Rita Cosby” that she knows better than to rule out major career decisions that are too far in the future.

“I learned in life to never say never about all kinds of things. I didn’t think I’d run for president, either, but I did. […] I am flattered by it, but I think one of the problems with this election is that we’re always jumping ahead. No one would have predicted where we are right now, and I don’t think anyone can predict where this is going. What I’m focused on, honestly, in the immediate term is making sure that Ted Cruz, not Donald Trump, is our nominee.”

Carly Fiorina’s attempts to divert focus from her plans and direct them toward Ted Cruz didn’t prevent outlets like Breitbart News from picking up on her statement and insisting in a headline that Fiorina has “left the door open” to the possibility of a Cruz/Fiorina GOP ticket.

Breitbart News, a web-based conservative outlet that has developed a reputation for coverage that is favorable to Donald Trump, segued quickly in the aforementioned article into Carly Fiorina’s criticism of Trump, who is known for misogynistic attacks partially because he made a derogatory comment about Fiorina’s face in Rolling Stone in September 2015. Fiorina slammed both Trump himself and his new senior staffer, Paul Manafort, who made a recent comment stating that recruiting delegates for the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in July is now “meaningless.”

Carly Fiorina accused Donald Trump of not caring about the rules and pointed out that the Trump campaign has failed to gain delegates at the speed necessary to clinch the nomination with 1,237, and she further accused him of trying to stir up conspiracy theories so that the voting public will be sympathetic toward him and his campaign during what will almost inevitably be a contested convention this summer.

“I think the reason, very frankly, that Donald Trump and his team are trying to create this illusion that delegates are somehow stealing the votes away from the people, is because Donald Trump isn’t doing well in the race for delegates, and so that’s what Donald Trump always does. He whines that it’s unfair. It’s not unfair. It’s just — he’s not doing real well there. And Ted Cruz continues to win the popular vote as he did in Wisconsin resoundingly, as he has in the previous four contests, and he’s doing very well with the delegate vote as well.”

Carly Fiorina received strong praise on Glenn Beck’s The Blaze on April 5 from Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony List, an anti-choice Super PAC dedicated to taking abortion rights away from American women. Dannenfelser writes that Carly Fiorina is the best choice for vice president. Glenn Beck, the founder of The Blaze, has endorsed Ted Cruz.

Dannenfelser refers to Carly Fiorina, who blatantly lied about one of the doctored Planned Parenthood videos that resulted in indictments for David Daleiden and one other member of Live Action, as a “smart and tough leader” who is uniquely equipped to refute the Democratic claims of a Republican “war on women” in the general election.
