‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Star Dakota Johnson Disses Antonio Banderas, Blames Him For Melanie Griffith’s Depression
Fifty Shades Darker star Dakota Johnson is reportedly blaming Antonio Banderas for mom Melanie Griffith’s depression. Jamie Dornan’s onscreen partner allegedly called the Desperado actor a “selfish man who is trying to recapture his youth.”
According to OK! magazine, via Celeb Dirty Laundry, Johnson believed that it was Banderas’ fault why her mom was slowly sinking deeper into depression. The Fifty Shades of Grey actress is allegedly furious at Banderas for dating a woman much younger than Griffith, which did not help her mother’s self-esteem. Antonio was said to be dating Nicole Kempel, a Dutch investment banker who is 22 years younger than him.
While Melanie Griffith would act nonchalant about Banderas’ dating life, insiders claim that she is still secretly affected by it.
“Many years ago, after struggling with drug and alcohol addiction, Melanie admitted that when she isn’t with someone she is very unhappy. It could be that Melanie is falling back into old habits,” the outlet pointed out.
Dakota Johnson allegedly no longer wanted to be associated with Antonio Banderas after he dumped Melanie Griffith in 2014. CDL, however, noted that the Fifty Shades Darker actress cannot help but feel “angry” with his blatant PDA with Sarah Ferguson. The two recently attended an event in Mexico city where they flirted up a storm.
Banderas and Kempel are allegedly having problems and he is slowly making a move on Ferguson. The Duchess of York also just got out of a long-term relationship with Manuel Fernandes so she may just be looking to start dating. The outlet reported that the two “shamelessly flirted” with one another, with the duchess allegedly acting like a “schoolgirl with a crush.”
With the blossoming romance between Antonio Banderas and Sarah Ferguson, Dakota Johnson could not help but worry that her mom Melanie Griffith will go back to feeling sorry for herself. The 26-year-old is reportedly distracted while filming Fifty Shades Darker.
Dakota Johnson and onscreen partner Jamie Dornan, however, were recently spotted having fun both on and off FSOG set, which makes people wonder if there is truth in all the rumors at all. By the looks of it, Dakota and Jamie were more relaxed filming Fifty Shades Darker compared to when they did Fifty Shades of Grey.
Dornan and Johnson definitely received quite a lot of negative feedback when it came to their chemistry onscreen. Critics and fans, alike, pointed out that there is something lacking between them. Insiders even insist that director Sam Taylor-Johnson even had to reshoot a couple of scenes, as the producers were not at all happy with what Dornan and Johnson were projecting on screen.
Some speculated that the awkwardness between the Fifty Shades Darker leads stemmed from not being friends in real life. According to Bustle, however, both Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson only had nice things to stay towards each other in the past interviews.
“We instantly had a thing. It’s so important, given what we had ahead of us. If we hadn’t liked each other, I wouldn’t have been cast. I got cast because they thought it worked. Dakota and I get on so well. We’re friends now,” Dornan explained.
Fifty Shades of Grey director Sam Taylor-Johnson also slammed rumors that Jamie and Dakota did not get along on set. Speaking to USA Today, she insisted that everything is going well between them, adding that they were sweet towards one another.
“I don’t know if everyone expected them to have a Kristen Stewart/Robert Pattinson thing. Jamie is married with a small baby. Dakota is in a relationship. It’s a movie. It was work. They get along fine.”
