New ‘Suicide Squad’ Trailer Released At MTV Awards, Fans Almost Cause A Riot To Watch It
Even though Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice doesn’t look like it’s going to be the huge success that Warner Bros. intended, movie fans are still hugely excited for Suicide Squad.
Need proof? Well, according to the Los Angeles Times, when Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne, and Jared Leto gathered together to premiere the new footage of Suicide Squad at the MTV Movie Awards, fans were so excited to see it that they almost caused the barricades holding them back to topple over.

It’s also been reported that the foursome, who entered the stage out of character to DJ Khaled’s “All I Do Is Win,” were quite enamoured with each other as they hugged and then danced to the song.
In fact, Jared Leto even led the crowd in singing the chorus of the song, but then added that most of the lyrics were in the film, as he declared on stage, “Sweat, blood and semen… it’s all in the movie.”
Those of us who weren’t lucky enough to be in attendance at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards will be able to see the new footage of Suicide Squad on Sunday when it’s aired. In fact, Saturday’s event was actually taped outside of the Warner Bros. backlot, and it was attended by over 4,000 fans who watched it unfold over two stages.
The 2016 MTV Movie Awards was hosted by Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, who also just so happened to be starring in the buddy comedy Central Intelligence, which is due out on June 17.
Warner Bros. will be overjoyed to learn that fans were so excited to see new footage for Suicide Squad, especially since it comes just over two weeks after Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice was released to overwhelmingly negative reviews, and it currently doesn’t look as though it will get to the intended $1 billion gross that the studio expected it to amass.
Currently, Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice has taken in over $783 million at the box office, but it’s looking more and more unlikely that it will make anywhere near $1 billion.
This is terrible news for Warner Bros., who wanted Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice to follow Man Of Steel and kick start the studio’s DC Extended Universe. The plan was for the superhero hybrid to be followed by Suicide Squad in August, and then Wonder Woman and Justice League Part One in 2017, The Flash and Aquaman in 2018, Shazam and Justice League Part Two in 2019, and Cyborg and Green Lantern Corps in 2020.
However, the disappointment of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, both critically and financially, means that Warner Bros. are re-thinking their plans with the universe. It’s already been announced that Wonder Woman’s release date changed from its November 2017 date to July 2017, instead.

Meanwhile, Suicide Squad is undergoing some slight changes, too. Reshoots are currently being conducted for the blockbuster, but rather than being for anything major, they are being done to add more action, while there are also rumors that it’s going to make the film funnier.
Jai Courtney, who is playing Boomerang in Suicide Squad, explained to Entertainment Tonight why reshoots are being done for the film, stating, “I wouldn’t say we’re going back to make it funnier. There’s some additional action stuff that we’ve been doing, which is really dope.”
We’ll get to see how those changes affect the Suicide Squad when it’s released on August 5.
