Margot Robbie To Play Disgraced Figure Skater Tonya Harding, But Who Will Play Nancy Kerrigan?

Margot Robbie gets quite aggressive during sex scenes, according to USA Today. It appears that the Wolf of Wall Street actress punched her The Legend of Tarzan co-star Alexander Skarsgård during a hot steamy scene.

The incident was revealed by the film’s director David Yates in his latest interview with Entertainment Weekly. Yates was the one who told Margot Robbie to “slap” Skarsgård during the sex scene, “just kind of give him a punch,” but he didn’t expect that she would punch him so hard and leave a bruise!

Yates revealed that the steamy scene didn’t go as smooth as he had planned, with Margot Robbie giving her Tarzan co-star a bruise. In fact, it might have been the only bruise Skarsgård got during the entire filming process of the film, the director said, adding that it says a lot about the actress’ “feistiness.”

And Yates added that this incident proved that he made the right choice in casting Margot Robbie for the role of Jane, as he didn’t want the new Tarzan movie to feel archaic or dated, where a tough guy comes to save a fragile girl.

“You have to feel that she’s strong and independent, and when you cast Margot, you’ll definitely get that.”

Those who can’t wait to see the entire steamy sex scene between Margot Robbie and Skarsgård will need to hold off until summer, as the movie opens in theaters on July 1.

It seems that Margot Robbie is looking to get away from playing her usual villains and or dazzlingly beautiful characters, as the Suicide Squad actress is set to appear in a biopic film, according to Christian Post. Robbie has recently signed on to play former figure skating champion Tonya Harding in the upcoming biopic film I, Tonya.

The film is based on a true story centered around the career of the two-time Skate America Champion Tonya Harding. In particular, the movie will show how Margot Robbie’s character managed to destroy her figure skating career after the infamous January, 1994, attack on skater Nancy Kerrigan during the Olympic trials.

Margot Robbie will also get the chance to portray Harding’s emotions after winning her first national title in 1991 and becoming the first woman who managed to complete a triple axel in figure skating.

Harding won her first gold medal during the U.S. Championships in 1994. Harding’s list of achievements also includes finishing fourth runner-up at the 1992 Winter Olympic Games in France. But that’s not reason enough to turn her life story into a movie starring Margot Robbie.

What made Harding’s career worth making a movie about is the fact that she went as far as hiring a hitman to break her rival’s, Nancy Kerrigan’s, leg so that she would be forced to skip the 1994 Games in Lillehammer, increasing Harding’s chances to win.

And although the attack, which was organized by Margot Robbie character’s first ex-husband, Jeff Gillooly, and her bodyguard, Shawn Eckhardt, only resulted in some bruising on Kerrigan’s kneecaps as well as quadriceps tendons, Harding’s career was ruined for good. And despite the fact that Kerrigan was injured after the attack, she still managed to win the silver medal during that year’s Games, while Harding finished eighth place. When it was confirmed that Harding, played by Margot Robbie in the upcoming I, Tonya biopic, was an accomplice in the attack, she pleaded guilty to hindering the investigation into the case.

A judge gave Harding three years of probation, community service, as well as a $160,000 fine on top of that. She was also permanently banned from figure skating and stripped of her championship title.

Now the question remains: who will play the role of Nancy Kerrigan in the new Margot Robbie film?
