Andi Dorfman is ready to tell all. The former Bachelorette star is set to release her tell-all book, titled It’s Not Okay: Turning Heartbreak Into Happily Ever After , which actually started out as a journal about her breakup from Josh Murray. Andi told People that the tell-all, which she describes as an “anti-self-help-book,” has been her baby since her split from Murray last year.
“[The book is] like my first born child! I am ready for labor, and May 17th is my due date.”
As for what to expect in the book, Dorfman has a whole lot of material. The former Atlanta assistant district attorney first appeared on Juan Pablo Galavis’ season of The Bachelor , during which she shut him down and told him his bad behavior was not okay. (Hence the title of her new book).
Andi went on to become The Bachelorette , where she got engaged to her final pick Josh Murray, got called out by her runner-up Nick Viall for sleeping with him in the Fantasy Suite, and then went through a nasty breakup with Josh.
“I wrote this book kind of unintentionally. I journaled my breakup and never intended to turn it into anything.”
So why put it out there? Andi told People that after reading through her journal, she was struck by how funny some of it was. She decided to give fans the real truth of what went down, even if some of it is private and hard to talk about sometimes.
“It’s the stuff nobody talks about. We all talk about a ‘happily ever after’, [but] most of us don’t work out – this is that story. The good, bad, psychotic – You name it, it’s in there.”
It will be interesting to see how much detail Dorfman gives about her breakup with Murray. Their relationship did not end well—Andi’s tear-filled update chat with Bachelorett e host Chris Harrison was a testament to her heartbreak— and Murray claims the two don’t talk anymore at all. In fact, Josh recently told People that both he and Andi have completely moved on from their tumultuous relationship.
“I don’t talk to Andi. For me, I moved on in my life.”
Andi Dorfman isn’t the first Bachelor or Bachelorette alum to write a book, but the publishing deals have been few and far between considering there have been more than 30 combined seasons of the franchise. A few notable Bachelor authors include fan favorites Trista Sutter and Sean Lowe, as well as Bachelor “villain” Courtney Robertson.
Of course, if you think Andi Dorfman’s tell-all deal is an interesting way to extend her reality TV fame, at least she has admitted she is done with appearing on reality TV. That same can’t be said for her ex, Josh Murray, though. Murray is set to star on the upcoming E! reality show Famously Single , where he’ll get relationship advice from a therapist while living under one roof with other reality spawn like Brandi Glanville ( The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills ) and DJ Pauly D ( Jersey Shore ).
Andi’s ex-fiancé is even using his reality TV fame to plug a few of his favorite products, so it’s not hard to see that they’re not really on the same page. (Unless Josh pens a tell-all, that is!)
Andi Dorfman’s new book, It’s Not Okay , will be available in stores May 17.
