Cameron Diaz On Longevity, Finding Love At 43, And Crushing On Harrison Ford

Cameron Diaz, darling of the big screen since the 1998 blockbuster There’s Something About Mary, is promoting a new book with a title that may surprise some people: The Longevity Book: The Science of Aging, the Biology of Strength, and the Privilege of Time.

Diaz, known for primarily pop-culture films and romantic comedies, not to mention her twinkly blue eyes and a schoolgirl grin topping off a bikini body, is not the first person conjured by the imagination in scientific topics.

But The Longevity Book, as described by GoodReads, “Examines the art and science of growing older and offers concrete steps women can take to create abundant health and resilience as they age.”

[Diaz] shares the latest scientific research on how and why we age, synthesizing insights from top medical experts and with her own thoughts, opinions, and experiences.”

The Longevity Book follows Diaz’s New York Times Bestseller, The Body Book.

Diaz, 43, told ETOnline that the best part of getting older is the “wisdom she’s gained through experiences. She also thinks that the main factors of premature aging are ‘stress, inflammation, lack of movement, poor nutrition, lack of sleep [and] not ?being connected to the people you love.’?”

Cameron Diaz was married in 2015 to “super-hot” musician Benji Madden after a whirlwind romance lasting only two or three months. She met Benji, 37, through her girl pal Nicole Richie, who is married to his brother.

USA Today describes how Cameron tells the story.

“I knew Nicole (Richie) and Joel for a couple years before I met Benji. They were over for a barbecue and Joel said, ‘Hey, can my brother come over?’ And I said, ‘Of course, this is family.’ And then (Benji) walked in the door and I was like, ‘You!’

“It was one of those things where everyone tells you, ‘You just know when you know.’ I was like, ‘What does that mean?’ Oh, I get it. You just know when you know. Like you’re my husband.

“That’s how I know he’s my husband. No one compares. Everything else just kind of washes and slips away. You realize, like, ‘Oh, right. This is what the real thing is. This is what real love is. This is what real commitment and devotion is. This is the person that you build your life with.’

“We got married in our living room in front of our friends and had a little party in the backyard on our tennis court.”

The guitarist has been supportive of his wife’s new book. On the day of launch earlier this week, he posted on Instagram:

“Today is the day! The LONGEVITY BOOK is out! My Beautiful&Fearless Wife @camerondiaz set out to encourage women, and all of us to invite a new conversation about aging, and the privilege of time. I’m so proud. My best friend, my heart, and the most bad (expletive) chick I know.”

There is true love, Diaz admits, and there is a celebrity crush. She told ET that her favorite movie is ?Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and then confessed to having a thing for actor Harrison Ford.

Picking an age-appropriate crush is a reminder that Cameron is reaching middle age. She keeps fit with a healthy diet and exercise.

Her “food inspirations,” Diaz says, are Gwyneth Paltrow, Rachael Ray and her mother, whom she says is her personal mentor.

Diaz says that if she put one mantra up on a neon sign, it would read, “Aging is living.”

“We only know it from what we see on the surface, not on a cellular level,” she explains. “All aging is a result of our trillions of cells aging, and once you understand the science, it gets way less scary.”
