‘Real Housewives Of New York’ Stars Ramona Singer And Sonja Morgan Besties No More?
In past seasons of The Real Housewives of New York City, Sonja Morgan and Ramona Singer have always been the best of friends, but could “Samonja” be coming to an end?
According to Radar Online, in a preview for the upcoming season of RHONY, Singer, 59, confronts Morgan, 52, in a panic and says, “You’re in such denial. It’s so sad.”
However, despite the teaser hinting at a possible ending of their friendship, Morgan set the record straight, according to OK! Magazine.
“Ramona and I are always like sisters,” Morgan said while at her Season 8 premiere party that she co-hosted with Ramona at Beautique in NYC. “We fight like cats and dogs and makeup like puppies.”
Ramona chimed in as well, although her feelings towards what happened with her best friend were a little stronger.
“You are going to see this season, everyone really peels back lots of layers and people really want to say, ‘Hey, don’t pretend you’re something that you’re not,’ which makes the show very intense,” she said. “And actually Sonja and I have some major issues on the show. You’re going to have watch to see how we resolve them.”
Meanwhile, Season 8 is sure to be full of other drama surrounding Sonja Morgan and her other co-stars, especially Bethenny Frankel. Radar Online reports that during Season 7 of The Real Housewives of New York, Frankel helped Morgan run her businesses. Now it seems that that bond might be broken.
Sonja recently started a liquor line that some would claim would be a competitor for Frankel’s super successful Skinnygirl. Morgan branded her new line “Tipsy Girl” (two words), but a report by Page Six claims that Frankel’s already established company got a trademark on “Tipsygirl” (one word) in an attempt to stir the pot with her co-star.
Peter Guimaraes, who is Morgan’s business partner, said that her new line wasn’t designed with the idea of competing with Frankel’s $100 million Skinnygirl brand. However, it appears Frankel didn’t view it the same as Morgan and Peter.
“It was surprising at first because she took out a trademark,” Morgan told Radar Online. “Tipsygirl, one word, and mine is two words, so I was like, ‘Whoa! What is she doing?'”
Morgan also added that the longer she thought of Frankel’s trademark of Typsygirl, she realized that it was a “business move.” Morgan explained why she thought Frankel might have felt prompted to land the trademark.
“I think she basically took it personally that I had done a brand with the name ‘girl,'” Morgan said. “So we have yet to see where that’s going to go.”
But despite the business tiff, Morgan remains hopeful that the two can work things out in the future.
“I really want to get back to my friendship with her and the basis of us before I delve into that any further,” she admitted. “But we’ll see.”
As for Frankel, the new trailer also revealed that she has a serious medical condition and even went to the extent of drafting a living will. After a couple of weeks of speculation, it has now been reported that she was suffering from fibroids and had to have them surgically removed.
Singer updated fans on the state of Frankel’s health at the premiere party.
“Women, once they get older, they do have a lot of health issues—and fibroids are a very common thing,” Ramona said, according to OK! Magazine.
“She’s basically a healthy woman, and things with medicine today, everything will be worked out for her,” she continued.
