Iggy Azalea Has One More Problem, Slapped With Tax Lien
As if there aren’t enough problems for Iggy Azalea these days, the Australian rapper has been hit with a huge tax lien.
It’s bad enough the “Team” rapper is stressed out with her fiancé Nick Young. Now the 25-year-old has been hit with a $391,056 tax lien for unpaid taxes from 2014, according to TMZ. That year was a good year for the up-and-coming Azalea, who was flying high off the success of her hit song “Fancy” from her bestselling album, The New Classic.
The court documents revealed that Azalea, whose real name is Amethyst Kelly, didn’t pay her income taxes that year, which resulted in a hefty fine.
Since then, it seems like the pop star has fallen off the radar. Iggy has received some pretty hefty criticism for her old racist and homophobic tweets and for appropriating black culture. Now the rapper and her “blaccent” is back since she released a new song last week. In a candid interview with E! Online, Iggy admitted that she had a “turbulent” 2015 and that was the reason why she called her new song “Team.”
“I wanted to like not breeze over that and wanted to acknowledge how I felt about it and wanted to say I think it’s fine if everybody doesn’t support me because I’m a believer in myself. That’s a message of the song. Everybody should feel that way about themselves.”
When Azalea was asked about how she’s going to handle the stress in 2016, she replied: “My motto is like the song says: Have you or own back. We worry a lot about people liking our pages or how many followers we have. You got to worry about your own thing.”
Now the always-outspoken rapper is speaking up about her latest battle with the IRS. Azalea took to Twitter to discuss her financial problems and added that it’s not what it looks like. The blonde star revealed that she chose to pay the IRS each month instead of paying it all in one lump sum. Azalea also called out the media for choosing to publish this report because of her headline-making relationship with Nick Young.

The superstar also seems committed to making her relationship with the fallen NBA star work. According to reports, Azalea was spotted wearing her engagement ring at the 2016 iHeartRadio Awards in light of the cheating scandal that has rocked the internet. She even confirmed to Extra’s Renee Bargh that the “whole wedding thing” is still on.
The pop star’s reported net worth is $6 million. But Iggy could see a decline in her assets if she decides to stay with Nick, according to a new report. Her previous reported net worth was $10 million, but it looks like it’s already dropping. Though Iggy won’t get hurt by this recent tax lien, sources claim that the viral video of Nick admitting to cheating while engaged to Iggy could hurt both of their assets.
According to the SavingAdvice report, Azalea’s constant struggles, controversies, and declining fame may also hurt her net worth.
Her debut album, The New Classic, released in April, 2014, and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, selling 52,000 copies in its first week. Her latest album, Digital Distortion, is scheduled for release in June, 2016.
Despite the viral video, Iggy Azalea and Nick Young have agreed to postpone their wedding until 2017 due to the singer’s upcoming tour. She revealed to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show, On-Air With Ryan Seacrest that Young is cool with being a bachelor a little longer.
The couple got engaged in 2015, that same year when Azalea was feeling the heat from critics for her controversial rapping career.
