Justin Timberlake Blasts Donald Trump, Gushes Over Taylor Swift At iHeartRadio Music Awards
Justin Timberlake blasted presidential hopeful Donald Trump at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on April 3.
Timberlake, who appeared on the iHeartRadio stage to present an award to Taylor Swift, opted to take his big moment in the iHeartRadio spotlight to take a playful jab at Donald Trump.
According to NME, Timberlake joked about Trump before presenting Swift with her award for “Best Tour,” where she beat out fellow nominees Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan, Foo Fighters, and U2, after Justin hilariously referenced Donald’s claims that he plans to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico.
“Some people are out here to build walls,” Justin Timberlake joked during his iHeartRadio appearance, before telling the crowd “We ain’t out here naming no names… That was a political joke.”
As the iHeartRadio Music Awards crowd, made up of superstars including Swift, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, and many other A-List names, burst into laughter, Justin then scolded some younger iHeartRadio Awards attendees in the audience, joking, “Shut up. You can’t even vote… I’m kidding, I’m kidding!”
Timberlake then noted that Taylor Swift instead opts to “knock down walls” and “chooses to invite everyone to be in her squad,” unlike Trump during his gushing speech, which first began with Justin acknowledging former president Teddy Roosevelt when he hit the awards show stage.
“Last year I was here and honored to win the innovator award, and I chose to share a quote that means a great deal to me by Theodore Roosevelt,” Justin began, before gushing over Taylor and describing her as an “extraordinary singer, songwriter and performer.”
“I’m very happy to be back with all of you in this arena to help honor a great young woman who has accomplished extraordinary things in arenas and stadiums all around our world,” Justin Timberlake continued, “[She] has been elevating the place of music in our lives, bringing all types of people together in big and powerful ways as a touring sensation.”
Justin then declared that Taylor “has won over 250 awards to date,” joking, “I don’t know how that’s mathematically possible.”
After presenting Swift with her award for “Best Tour,” Taylor then opted to thank Timberlake in her speech at the big music awards show, citing him as being a great example for her and thanking him for being a surprise guest during her 1989 tour last year, according to Gossip Cop.
“I want to start by thanking Justin Timberlake for the example he’s set for all the artists in this room,” Taylor said, “I think that one of my favorite things about this tour was the camaraderie I felt by all the artists that came out.”

But after Timberlake and Taylor Swift spread the love on stage, their friendly love-in later spilled over into social media, where Justin and Taylor exchanged some very sweet messages with each other on Instagram.
“Hero status, friend status, all time fav status,” Swift captioned a black and white photo of the two backstage, which already has more than 1.1 million likes, “@justintimberlake thank you for absolutely everything.”
Justin also praised Swift on the social media site after the ceremony, posting a snap of Taylor accepting her award on the iHeartRadio Awards stage and sweetly referring to her as “dear.”
“My good friend, Taylor…,” Justin Timberlake captioned the sweet photo of Taylor on stage at the big music awards show on his official Instagram page, adding, “Congrats, dear!!!” alongside the hashtag “#iHeartAwards.”
