The hit Amazon-streaming series Transparent is getting a new cast member next season. Caitlyn Jenner, star of her own reality series that reveals details of her journey as a transgender individual, is set to appear next season on the award-winning show.
Jill Soloway, executive producer for Transparent, would not reveal any information about the character Jenner is set to play, but has shared that they will begin filming with the reality star in her given scenes next week. Episodes involving Cait’s character will appear in the 3rd season of the show.
Soloway spoke on the news in an interview at the GLAAD Media Awards and shares that having Jenner on board for the series is “a dream come true.”

The hit show follows the life and journey of transgender character Maura Pfefferman, played by Jeffrey Tambor, as she comes out to her friends and family as a woman.
The executive produces shares that it was actually easy getting Caitlyn Jenner to sign on for the episodes, and expands on the subject.
“We are all part of the same community. A lot of the transwomen who work on our show are also in her show, ‘I am Cait.’ Lots of crossover. Lots of friends.”
As the Associated Press relays, Cait’s E! reality show, I Am Cait, and the new program with which she is now a part of, Transparent, are both nominated for GLAAD Media Awards. The televised ceremony will air Monday on Logo. The news outlet relays the purpose of the ceremony.
“The gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender advocacy group honors media and the entertainment industry for accurate portrayals of LGBT characters and issues.”
As the Belfast Telegraph shares, Jenner’s hit reality series had great success with nominations, tying for nominations with I Am Jazz, which features a 15-year-old trans activist, Jazz Jennings.
In regards to learning the news that she will in fact be a part of Transparent, Jenner reacted with obvious enthusiasm, then taking to social media where she posted a picture of herself next to Judith Light, a cast member of the show. The caption fittingly reads “So excited..”
The publication also shares of other highlights of the reality stars past months.
“It’s shaping up to be another big year for Caitlyn after recently achieving her dream of playing alongside female golf professionals for the first time in a tournament on Wednesday. The reality TV star, who came out as a transgender woman last year (15), took part in the ANA Inspiration Pro-Am Tournament at Rancho Mirage Country Club in California, where amateur players join professionals from America’s Ladies’ Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour for a round. The charity contest was held on the eve of the professionals’ ANA Inspiration tournament, one of the five biggest events in women’s golf.”
Although Caitlyn Jenner is still making her mark and advocating for the transgender community by taking part in these various endeavors and making appearances at media events as well as speaking engagements, which are organized to bring awareness to the community, members of the transgender community are not all fans of the reality star. Jenner took quite a lot of heat for her comments in regards to political issues and for her lack of sympathy for those in the community who are struggling.
As the Wrap shared last month, activists within the community are growing frustrated with Jenner’s stances on matters and actions of late. One such activist is Sarah McBride, who spoke openly with the publication last month.
“I’m definitely seeing a growing frustration within the LGBT community with Caitlyn’s positions and actions,. Her most recent comments about Ted Cruz were, for a lot of people, the last straw.”
After Jenner showed support for conservative politician Ted Cruz, she became a quick target within the LGBT community.
