‘Dancing With The Stars’ Mischa Barton A ‘Nightmare’ On Set, Former ‘O.C.’ Star Not ‘Coming Off As A Nice Person’
Mischa Barton’s struggles on Dancing With the Stars continue as the competition enters its third week. While the former O.C. star has yet to score well with the judges, it now appears as though she is having behind-the-scenes problems with her co-stars. How much longer can she last?
A inside source explained to Radar Online that Barton is having trouble fitting in with her co-stars. Barton’s attitude is at the source of her woes, as the actress “is just not coming off as a nice person” to the other cast members.
“It is really quite unfortunate because when she first came on the show, members of the cast and crew said they were hoping that she was going to be the person that they used to love watching on TV,” the insider shared. “They were actually really excited to meet her.”
Instead of the warm and inviting person many of the contestants expected to meet, Barton has presented herself in a much different light. Barton’s rudeness is not restricted to anyone in specific. Instead, Barton has been rude with just about everyone she has met.
“Some people are claiming that Barton is the most self-entitled and rude celebrity that the employees of the show have ever had to work with! She does not discriminate who she is rude to either,” the insider stated. “Misha had practically no response at all to Geraldo getting kicked off. All that did was add to the feeling on set that Misha does not want to be there, and she just wants to take the money and run.”
Although many believe that Barton is only in it for the money, Daily Mail is reporting that she is trying her best on season 22 of Dancing With the Stars. In fact, a source close to the actress revealed that Barton is simply “out of her element,” which is partly why she is struggling so much.
Furthermore, while even the judges have noted Barton’s apparent disinterest and lack of enthusiasm, the source added that she is not a high-energy type of person. Is everybody just misreading the former O.C. star?“She’s introverted and quiet. She’s very much like her O.C. character. She could be having the best time, but her demeanor doesn’t really change,” the insider stated.
For her part, Barton had plenty of excuses why she hasn’t done well in the competition so far. For starters, she admitted that during the first week both she and her partner were sick. The two went out and danced anyways, despite being on medication.
At the same time, Us Magazine is reporting that Barton remains confident that things will start to change for her in the near future. Considering the fact that she has yet to score above 6, she definitely has her work cut out.
“I think we’ll probably get back to a better place now,” Barton explained. “I just feel like this whole week just psyched me out, and maybe now it’s time to just attack it with positivity.”
In order to accomplish this task, Barton recently shared a blog post with People in which she opened up about her past experiences. In addition to dishing on her career as an actress and the brief mental breakdown she suffered in 2009, Barton also shared how excited she is to be a part of Dancing With the Stars.“I know I’m never going to be a professional ballroom dancer,” Barton told the outlet. “So for me, this experience is about having as much fun as possible.”
