‘Suicide Squad’ Being Reshot To Add Humor, Exclusive Clip To Premiere At The MTV Movie Awards
Suicide Squad is scheduled to come out in theaters on August 5, and there has been plenty of hype surrounding the star-studded movie. Now, however, there are reports that Suicide Squad is being reshot to change the overall tone of the film.
A few days ago, Devin Faraci from Birth.Movies.Death spilled some details on what’s going on withSuicide Squad. Faraci stated that a source close to the movie revealed that reshoots are currently ongoing to add more humor to Suicide Squad.
The reshoot was prompted by the first official Suicide Squad trailer released in January, wherein fans were able to get a glimpse of what to expect from the movie. The villains were showcased one by one in the trailer, with Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” playing in the background. The trailer was met with excitement from fans who couldn’t wait to see the final product. As of this writing, the Suicide Squad trailer has more than 48.8 million views on YouTube.
According to Faraci’s source, however, “Every joke in the movie is in that trailer.” The trailer was well-received by many, but it didn’t represent the overall tone of the movie. That is what prompted Warner Bros. to reshoot some scenes in order to inject more humor. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice may have also prompted the reshoots, as although the movie is doing well in box office sales, the reviews have not been favorable.
The same article stated that the reshoot is currently underway and is costing the studio “tens of millions of dollars.” Though reshooting can be a sign of trouble, The Independent notes that Suicide Squad is not being salvaged. Rather, the filmmakers are making the decision to listen to the audience and give them what they want through the changes that they are making based on the response from the first trailer.

Suicide Squad centers on a group of supervillains who are hired by a government agency to fulfill different missions in exchange for lessening their prison sentences. The film features some of the fans’ favorite villains including Joker (Jared Leto), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Deadshot (Will Smith), Boomerang (Jai Courtney), El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje). The Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), also makes an appearance in the film, though she is not part of the Suicide Squad.
