Drew Barrymore Makes First Appearance Since Split
Despite the recent news that Drew Barrymore and her husband of 4 years Will Kopelman are divorcing, the actress was sure to get back to work on Saturday by promoting and appearing at the Pebble Beach Food and Wine event where she was present to support her own Barrymore Wines brand.
The purpose for Barrymore’s presence at the event was also so the actress could debut a new rosé. The event founder, David Bernahl, had only complimentary words to shares about Drew in regards to her affiliation with the event.
“Drew is amazing. She has been a friend of the festival for years. In fact, when she launched her wine she did it at Pebble Beach.”
A video of the star that has been uploaded to Instagram shows Drew holding a bottle of the new wine and features her encouraging guests in attendance to drop in to her section of the wine festival.
The appearance by Barrymore marks her first public event since the announcement of her split from Will, which only emerged within the past 48 hours, though there had been speculation of a divorce for months. A source chatted with People about reasons for the split, which involved arguments and disagreement over where to reside and raise their 2 children, Olive, 3, and Frankie, 1.
“They’ve had marriage issues for a while. There was tension over where to live.”
It’s been reported that while Kopelman wished to continue living with his family on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, Barrymore much prefers Los Angeles as home. The source claims that Drew has become very close to Will’s family while she and the family lived in New York.
“Drew fell in love with Will’s family,” the insider shares, and also notes that Will is “devastated” about the split from Drew. E! Online, however, relays that the two have been living separately for a time now.

It is clear that Barrymore has a great deal of admiration for her ex, seeing as only late last year she pointed out how lovely it is to see Will be such a great father to the couple’s 2 daughters.
“Honestly, I don’t know how it is for other couples but really I like watching him be a father. I know everyone says you’re supposed to put your coupledom first. But I really love it being all about the kids. Maybe that’s my compensating for not having parents myself or a childhood but right now, the focus is about how we’re figuring things out as parents.”
Signs of the two being vastly different and not exactly meant for each other, also came when Drew spoke with In Style in the fall of 2015, and shared how polar opposite she and Will are.
“[It]was never really love at first sight. Will struck a lot of my pragmatic sides. He was someone who was always reachable on the phone, someone who was a classy human being, someone who has this incredible blueprint of a family that I don’t have. “
Although Drew went on to fully admit that she and Kopelman are “polar opposites” she commended the father of her 2 children for the fact that he “chooses to be a good person every day.”

The couple announced their split in an exclusive statement to People, which the publication relayed.
“Sadly our family is separating legally, although we do not feel this takes away from us being a family. Divorce might make one feel like a failure, but eventually you start to find grace in the idea that life goes on. Our children are our universe, and we look forward to living the rest of our lives with them as the first priority.”
