David Letterman Always Planned To Stop Shaving As Soon As He Finished On TV: You Won’t Believe What He Looks Like Now!

David Letterman looks almost unrecognizable after disappearing from the public eye in 2015, according to CNN. The former CBS Late Show host has been spotted jogging on the Caribbean island of St. Barts.

As seen from the photographs, David Letterman is now bald and heavily bearded, which is strikingly different from the icon who appeared on national TV every day for 33 years straight. In fact, the 68-year-old host looks so different his new look is even compared to Santa.

Just 10 months ago, David Letterman waved goodbye to his audience during his last show on CBS. So, apparently, it takes less than a year to transform into Santa. The only time Letterman made a TV appearance after retiring in May 2015 was when he made a cameo at the Indy 500 and was among guests at Michael J. Fox’s benefit to fight Parkinson’s disease in November 2015.

In December last year, David Letterman also got a bit nostalgic, visiting his alma mater – Ball State – to have an onstage chat with students and teachers. And despite the fact that the former Late Show host was active on Twitter, he hasn’t made a single tweet since July 2015.

Back then, he took to Twitter to announce his surprise appearance at the Texas stand-up show performed by his pals Martin Short and Steve Martin. David Letterman then made a joke about Donald Trump’s decision to enter the presidential race.

David Letterman presented a Top 10 list about the GOP front-runner and then made a joke that by retiring a few weeks before Trump announced his intention to enter the presidential race, he had “made the biggest mistake of my life.”

And while sporting a “retirement beard” is nothing new among men who make a decision to disappear from the public eye for months or even years, David Letterman’s look caused quite a stir on social media.

Apart from David Letterman, both Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart boasted their bushy beards after retiring from their shows in 2015. But none of them looked like Santa, that’s for sure. One Twitter user even went as far as saying that Letterman “is building an Ark,” a reference to Noah.

In fact, David Letterman was first seen with the early stages of his bushy beard just a few weeks after he wrapped the farewell episode of his talk show. It was just a stubble back then, but it grew into an impressive Santa-like beard.

Even though he looks completely different, it’s obvious that David Letterman is enjoying his retirement. Because who else would jog while sincerely smiling at the camera? That’s right, a happy retired talk show host.

But David Letterman’s hairstyle is something very different from what his fans are used to seeing. The former host even joked several times about wearing a hairpiece during many of his talk show episodes. And although people were still unwilling to believe that it was actually a hairpiece, the most recent photos serve as a proof.

Just last week, David Letterman was spotted purchasing strawberries along with his wife Regina Lasko, according to Us Magazine. The former Late Show host was photographed carrying a large bag with strawberries from the grocery store on the French Caribbean island.

In June last year, David Letterman said in a post-Late Show interview that he was planning quite a few things to enjoy his retirement. Among them: keeping a low profile, learning to use a phone without any assistance, as well as “discovering himself.”

And in another interview later that year, David Letterman revealed his plans to stop shaving as soon as he leaves the spotlight.
