Vanilla Ice, Salt-N-Pepa To Headline ‘I Love The 90s’ Tour

Hope you are feeling nostalgic because the 90s hip-hop and R&B stars are coming together for a massive tour!

The tour, called the “I Love the 90s” tour, will kick off this spring and will be headlined by none other than Vanilla Ice and Salt-N-Pepa. Although these two acts alone could attract thousands of fans, there are more singers who are coming along for the celebration including All-4-One, Coolio, Color Me Badd, Kool Moe Dee, Rob Base, Tone Loc, Young MC, and Biz Markie.

The “I Love the 90s” tour was put together by Universal Attractions Agency, Rolling Stone reports. The tour was originally just supposed to be a few shows this spring, but popular demand made the agency turn it into a nationwide event, starting in April and ending in October.

“We are so thrilled to be able to bring together some of the most iconic artists of one of the most pivotal decades for music,” UAA’s co-owner Jeff Allen said in a statement. “After the incredible fan response to the first few shows, we knew the Tour had to go national.”

Cheryl “Salt” James, 50, one-third of the hip-hop group Salt-N-Pepa, with Sandra “Pepa” Denton and Deidra “DJ Spinderella” Roper, spoke to USA Today about the tour and what their fans can expect.

“Obviously all the classics,” James said of their playlist.

“The show is very interactive. When we do Whatta Man, we pull a bunch of guys onstage and have fun with them. During (Spinderella’s) DJ set, we celebrate girl power and bring a bunch of girls onstage and party with them. We do some album cuts that everybody might not know, but we say in the beginning of our show, ‘This is not a show, this is a Salt-N-Pepa experience.’ We say that because, back in the day, performing felt more like, ‘We are here to entertain you.’ But now it feels like we are hanging out with friends and we don’t feel pressure to put on a show. We just have fun with the crowd and the crowd has fun with us.”
