Rock superstar Elton John had some harsh words for Madonna on Australian television yesterday. “She’s such a nightmare. Her career’s over…she looks like a f–king fairground stripper,” EOnline reports. John did, however, acknowledge her as a brilliant pop singer.
Elton John is close with Lady Gaga (the godmother of his son) and appears to have taken sides in the Lady Gaga-Madonna feud.
Unlike many in the entertainment world, Elton John seems to be the type of celebrity that has an open mind when it comes to politics. For example, Elton John recently heaped praise on former President George W. Bush and other Republican conservatives for fighting AIDS in Africa according to The Daily Caller .
We’ve seen George W. Bush and conservative American politicians pledge tens of billions to save the lives of Africans with HIV. Think of all the love. Think of where we’d be without it, nowhere, that’s where. We’d be nowhere at all.
Thanks to all this compassion, thanks to all this love, more than 8 million people are on treatment. Thanks to people who have chosen to care and to act, we can see an end to this epidemic on the horizon.
In what is surely to get many of his liberal celebrity friends (is there any other kind?) bent out of shape, Elton John recently also spoke well of his new friend Rush Limbaugh, the conservative radio talk show host. USA Today explains:
After he agreed to perform at Limbaugh’s wedding in 2010, the two men bonded over music and formed a friendship, despite Limbaugh’s conservative views.”He sends me the loveliest e-mails,” John says. “What I get from Rush privately and what I get from Rush publicly are two different things. I’m just trying to break him down.”
