Zac Efron Feuding With David Hasselhoff On The Set Of The New ‘Baywatch’ Movie?

David Hasselhoff and Zac Efron are set to join forces in the upcoming Baywatch movie. While The Hoff is reprising his part as Mitch Buchannon in the reboot, Efron has reportedly been feuding with the 63-year-old star. Are the two actors engaging in a friendly competition, or is there really some beef between them?

An inside source told Radar Online that Hasselhoff’s arrival has been marked with a lot of tension on set. Efron is playing the role of Matt Brody in the film, and Hasselhoff has apparently been critical of Efron as he hands the torch off to a younger generation.

“Ever since David got on set this week, he was totally calling the shots,” the source shared. “There was a lot of tension between him and Zac. David is being super critical of Zac and just wants him to be perfect.”

For his part, Efron hasn’t reacted well to the added pressure. With Hasselhoff’s shadow lurking large over the project, Efron is trying his best to meet Hasselhoff’s high expectations. Unfortunately, this has led Efron to avoid Hasselhoff at all costs.

“Zac seems incredibly intimidated when he is around David. He looks afraid to even talk to him.”

As far as Hasselhoff is concerned, the veteran actor is thrilled to be a part of the beloved series once again. Not only has the film provided him an opportunity to stay in shape, but he’s also going to reap the monetary benefits as he owns the rights to the franchise. For Hasselhoff, the film is an all-around win, even if his part isn’t that significant.

“Doing this film has given David a reason to work out and be healthy again,” the insider explained. “He is not drinking and is at the gym practically 24/7 now.”

Speaking of the gym, Efron has also been bulking up for his role in the hit franchise. In fact, Us Magazine has released a few images from the set of the movie, and Efron has clearly added a few pounds of muscle and looks more toned than ever.

“He is regimented about everything he does,” a source told the outlet. “Before they shoot a big shirtless sequence, Zac won’t have any water for 12 hours to make his muscles look as defined as humanly possible.”

Based on the images, Zac Efron’s strict workout routine has definitely paid off. The only thing he has to worry about is looking small compared to his co-star, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. So far, that doesn’t appear to be a problem, as Efron has even started a friendly competition with the professional wrestler.

In a post to Instagram, Efron sent Johnson a picture of himself, shirtless and ripped, with the caption: “Special delivery for The Rock.”

According to Irish Examiner, Johnson has one of the lead roles in the movies, and has already been spotted working alongside Hasselhoff on set. Considering Johnson’s past work on hit franchises like The Fast and Furious, his addition to the cast should help boost ticket sales when the movie opens in theaters next year.

Of course, the only thing left to see is whether or not Efron is able to get over his fear of Hasselhoff. Given the playful tone of the movie and the fact that Efron is no stranger to starring in an action comedy, there is little doubt that Efron will live up to the challenge.

Apart from Efron, Hasselhoff, and Johnson, Baywatch stars Alexandra Daddario, John Bass, and Kelly Rohrbach. The movie is directed by Seth Gordon, and is expected to hit theaters sometime in May of 2017.
