Gwen Stefani Asked Blake Shelton To Marry Her, And He Said Yes! [Report]
It’s only been a handful of months since her divorce with Gavin Rossdale but it might not be long before Gwen Stefani exchanges vows once again. While most expected Blake Shelton to pop the big question himself, Stefani is the one who reportedly asked Shelton to marry her. Shelton ultimately said “yes,” despite being taken by surprise. According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Stefani’s proposal was charming and traditional, apart from Stefani being the one proposing. The No Doubt frontwoman reportedly started the romantic evening with a high-class dinner before popping the big question.
“She surprised her boyfriend with a lavish private dinner and a marriage proposal,” an insider revealed to Life & Style magazine. “The pop star asked her beau of less than a year to marry her.”
Stefani divorced Rossdale this past summer and has been with Shelton since November. While the two have certainly moved fast in their relationship, a wedding announcement isn’t all that surprising. After all, both stars have repeatedly gushed about their romance on social media and on The Voice, making it clear that they love each other.
Furthermore, Shelton has fully integrated himself into Stefani’s life. This includes spending time with her three children and bonding with them as their potential new step-dad. With Shelton and Stefani clearly in love and Shelton getting along great with her kids, it’s only a matter of time before the two settle down for good. That being said, Gwen Stefani has yet to make an official announcement on the matter. This is surprising, especially considering how Shelton and Stefani have proudly displayed their love for each other throughout their relationship. This includes their activity on social media as well as their interactions while on the set of The Voice.
At the same time, Stefani hasn’t fully settled her divorce with Rossdale, which means that she is technically a married woman. The divorce papers have been filed and there is little doubt that Stefani will follow through with the separation, but they still have a few details to iron out. This might be one reason why Shelton and Stefani are keeping their plans to marry a secret as they wait for her divorce to officially end before announcing their plans to wed.
Although the details about their ceremony haven’t been released, Hollywood Life is reporting that Stefani and Shelton have already made plans for their highly anticipated wedding. For starters, Stefani has agreed on a country theme and wants to have the ceremony at Shelton’s home on the lake. “Gwen wants a corn maze and carnival rides, plus okra, smoked meats and barbecue,” an inside source told the outlet. “The dress code will be ‘Southern dressy-casual,’ like plaids, flip-flops and nice jeans.” Of course, the country theme fits nicely for Shelton, who has a history of showing up for weddings in denim. During his first two wedding ceremonies — Kaynette Williams in 2003 and Miranda Lambert in 2011 — Shelton showed up wearing jeans and a nice shirt. While their wedding might be a country affair, that doesn’t mean Stefani is going to skimp on the budget. In fact, their wedding is expected to cost around $2 million when it’s all said and done.
However, an official wedding date has not been announced. Considering how Stefani still has to work through the finer details of her divorce with Rossdale, there’s no telling when she will tie the knot with Shelton. Hopefully, it will be sooner rather than later. Until then, fans can watch Shelton and Stefani together again when The Voice airs Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC.
