Barack Obama Birthday: President Plays Golf, Heads To Camp David To Celebrate 51st Birthday
Today is Barack Obama’s birthday. The 44th President of the United States will celebrate his 51st birthday with a round of golf before heading up to Camp David.
According to the Associated Press, the president will be a playing a round of golf at Andrews Air Force Base with a group of friends and White House aides. After that, he’ll head up to Camp David in Maryland’s Catocin Mountains for a private party with his family.
So what does a President wish for on his birthday?
Last Thursday the President was in Florida at a rally when one of his supporters wished him a happy birthday. The president joked that his birthday wishes would probably involve “electoral votes. Winning Florida wouldn’t be a bad birthday present.”
Barack Obama will be taking a small break from the campaign to celebrate his 51st birthday this week, but starting Monday, the POTUS will kick the campaign into overdrive with fundraisers in Connecticut, Colorado, and Chicago.
The NY Times reports that the President is also using his birthday as a fundraising opportunity. In an email to supporters, Obama writes that this could be the last birthday “I celebrate as president of the United States, but that’s not up to me – it’s up to you.” The president is also hosting a “birthday party” next week in Chicago to raise money for his campaign.
The president’s birthday also gave Republicans a chance to get in a few friendly jabs at Obama. The Huffington Post reports that the Republican National Committee delivered an Obama birthday cake to the Democratic National Committee today with the words “You didn’t bake this” next to a picture of President Obama. The line references comments Obama made last month about small business owners needing help to start their own businesses.
