Need cash on Sunday? According to the Holiday Schedule, banks, including supermarket branches, will be closed, but you can still use the ATM or mobile banking. If you’re expecting a package, the post office, FedEx, and UPS will not be making deliveries with the exception of Amazon packages — your local mail carrier will be making those deliveries.
Easter dinner is a big deal in many homes across the country — roast lamb or honey-baked ham, deviled eggs, and ricotta pie are popular choices at the holiday dinner table. However, if cooking isn’t your thing, there will be plenty of restaurants open on Sunday and you won’t be the only one dining out.
According to the National Restaurant Association, at least 51 percent of those surveyed state that they prefer to dine out at a buffet-style restaurant on Easter and almost 40 percent say they will be eating ham.
Budget-minded diners who want to chow down at a buffet on Sunday will find Hometown Buffet, Old Country Buffet, and Golden Corral open on March 27. Buffet prices for adults range between $8.95 and $15.95 depending on the location — meals for children and seniors are usually discounted. Call ahead for business hours or check the restaurant’s websites for more information.
In addition to buffets, there are a number of sit-down restaurants open on Easter Sunday. Holiday Shopping Hours reports that while most fast-food restaurants will be closed (McDonald’s, Wendy’s, KFC, Taco Bell), many popular chain restaurants will be open including Applebee’s, Red Lobster, Cracker Barrel, Outback Steakhouse, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Boston Market. And yes, some Starbucks will be open if you need a caffeine fix or free wi-fi.
If you are looking for a pricier dinner or a great brunch, Ruth’s Chris, Capital Grille, and McCormick & Schmicks will all be open for Easter Sunday with special holiday menus available. Keep in mind that you may have a long wait, so call ahead to make reservations or make a reservation online with Open Table.
What about retail stores? If you want to go to your local mall to shop on Easter Sunday, you may be out of luck — most mall stores including Macy’s, Kohl’s, Victoria’s Secret, and Old Navy will be closed.
Big box stores like Best Buy, Target, and Costco will be closed on Sunday, but there will be a few department stores open. Saving Advice reports that Kmart, Sears, and Walmart will be open on March 27, but it’s important to call ahead for store hours. No need to call a Walmart Super Center near you — they will be open ’round the clock if you need to grab some last-minute Easter basket supplies.
