Chumlee Keeps Quiet Post-Arrest, Past Tweet Suggests ‘Pawn Star’ Had Money Problems

Chumlee has kept quiet since his arrest on March 9, not posting to his social media accounts or releasing a statement of any kind. Although fans of the Pawn Stars appraiser have been waiting anxiously for some additional news about what’s going on, Chumlee hasn’t offered any kind of update on his situation.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, the reality star will be heading to court on May 23 to face 20 felony charges. Police took him into custody during a home raid that stemmed from a sexual assault claim filed on March 3. Basically, authorities obtained a search warrant to enter Chumlee’s home after a woman claimed that he sexually assaulted her. During their search, several guns were found in addition to large amounts of drugs, including marijuana, methamphetamines, and Xanax.

Chumlee reportedly told police that he “smokes a lot of weed,” according to USA Today, but the police report states that the way in which the drugs were stored were similar to the way someone who deals drugs would store their supplies.

“It should also be noted that the amount of narcotics, narcotics paraphernalia and narcotics-related items found throughout the residence suggests (Russell) openly allows and participates in the unlawful use and possession of narcotics. Many of these items are commonly found with persons who package and sell controlled substances, i.e., plastic baggies and digital scales.”

It is unclear if Chumlee had been dealing drugs in addition to his job as an appraiser at the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas (he presumably gets a paycheck from the shop’s owner as well as from The History Channel, which airs Pawn Stars). Chumlee’s last tweet, posted just days before his arrest, has some Twitter users wondering if he was hard-pressed for cash — or if he needed the money to fuel his apparent drug addiction.

Check out the tweet and some of the responses below.

Chumlee was not filming for Pawn Stars when he got arrested, according to Fox News. While fans may have been hoping for an inside look at what happened to Chumlee, they won’t be seeing any of this play out on the show. The History Channel has not commented on Chumlee’s recent arrest, and there is no word on whether or not he will be a part of the show in the future.

Chumlee’s attorney, David Chesnoff, released a statement about his client’s arrest.

“We will be analyzing what was allegedly found and whether the alleged seizure was lawful in a courtroom, not in the media. Austin has great faith in the judicial system as do I and looks forward to a just resolution of the matter.”

Based on the findings listed in the police report and Chumlee’s last tweet, do you think that he was involved in something other than appraising items at the pawn shop? Do you think that more information about Chumlee will be released in the coming weeks?
