Katie Holmes Takes Suri To March Madness, Where Was Rumored Fiancé Jamie Foxx?

Katie Holmes recently made a public appearance in honor of college basketball’s March madness tournament. The actress took her daughter Suri to watch a game between Stephen F. Austin and Notre Dame. While Holmes and Suri appeared to enjoy their time at the game, Holmes’ rumored fiancé, Jamie Foxx, was nowhere to be seen. Where was Foxx, and why didn’t he join them for a night courtside?

According to AOL, Holmes’ took her 9-year-old daughter to the Fighting Irish game at the Barclays Center in New York. The mother and daughter appeared high in spirits as they watched the game unfold and both dressed appropriately for the cool weather. Holmes wore a light colored sweater for the event, while her daughter dressed in a pink jacket.

Meanwhile, E! Online is reporting that the recent appearance by Holmes and her daughter is not out of the ordinary for the Brooklyn resident. In fact, Holmes recently revealed how she uses the bustling city as a means to deal with her everyday problems, much like a normal person would do in her situation.

“I’m a normal person and I do walk around,” Holmes shared. “If you’re having a bad day, you just take a walk, and it’s not only that you see people who are having a worse day than you, it’s just that you’re in life. You suddenly can’t be stuck in whatever problem you’re in because you have to hail a cab or you have to get a subway ticket. There’s more than just you, and I think the harsh winters give you a little bit of character.”

That being said, it is curious that Foxx did not join them for the basketball game, especially if the reports about their engagement are true. As fans will recall, the rumors of a potential engagement surfaced after both Foxx and Holmes were spotted wearing similar gold bands on their wedding fingers.

According to Movie News Guide, Holmes was seen wearing a gold band on multiple occasions, including casual outings in New York. For his part, Foxx was also spotted wearing a gold band on his left ring finger, which led to speculation that the two were planning on getting married.

Of course, neither Foxx nor Katie Holmes have officially addressed the rumors of an engagement. However, Movie News Guide is reporting that a rep for Foxx has come out and dispelled the rumors, stating that Holmes and Foxx are not engaged and do not plan on getting married.

It isn’t clear why Foxx and Holmes are keeping their relationship so secret, though it has been speculated that Holmes’ ex-husband, Tom Cruise, might be one of the reasons. Holmes and Foxx married each other back in 2006, and decided to end their marriage in 2012.

Considering the nature of their divorce and Cruise’s love for Holmes, many have speculated that Foxx and Holmes are keeping their relationship private for his sake. At the same time, Foxx and Cruise are no strangers to each other. They starred together in the 2005 film, Collateral, in which Foxx earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

At this time, little else is known about the true nature of Holmes’ relationship with Foxx. The fact that Foxx did not appear alongside Holmes and her daughter at the Notre Dame game suggests that things aren’t as serious as previously thought. However, there a plenty of reasons why Foxx may have been unable to attend the game, not the least being his busy work schedule.

Foxx is currently getting ready to star as Little John in the upcoming movie Robin Hood: Origins. The film is set to premiere sometime in 2017.
