Some major changes are ahead for the seventh season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills . While the series is currently wrapping up its sixth season, producers are looking to switch up the cast for next year. This includes firing two current Housewives and replacing them with fresh faces. Which cast members are going to get booted?
An inside source recently told Radar Online that producers are testing their options until making any final decisions. The plan is to hire two new Housewives, and it appears as though Kathryn Edwards’ time on the show may be numbered.
“They are getting rid of Kathryn Edwards,” the source told the outlet.
Along with Edwards, producers are toying with the idea of parting ways will Kyle Richards. Apparently, they are tired of Kyle’s sibling drama with Kim Richards and feel as though it is a tired storyline that fans will not want to continue to watch unfold.
“The whole situation with the sibling drama between Kyle and Kim is getting old,” the insider said. “That really is Kyle’s only storyline, so they may just invite Kim back.”
However, they are not sure how Kim might react if they give her sister the boot, especially considering her past history with substance abuse. In the end, they might decide to let both sisters go, which would really shake things for the new season.
“They are taking it day by day because they don’t know how Kim is going to behave now that she’s taking care of herself,” the source continued. “But they are conflicted and not sure they want to explore her story again, either.”
As fans will recall, Kim broke down at the end of Season 5 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and was forced to enter rehab (again) to deal with her substance abuse problems. Producers did not invite Kim back as a regular, but they did include her on a few episodes this season as a guest.
As far as her sibling drama is concerned, Kim and Kyle have fought with each other ever since their first appearance on the show. With their relationship failing to get past their minor issues, fans have grown tired of their persistent drama.
At the same time, the Hollywood Gossip is reporting that producers are not going to be flexible when it comes to renewing contracts. With Kim being notorious for demanding a high payout, it is unclear if this will stand in her way and prevent her return in Season 7.
“Kim is known for always demanding more money,” the source indicated, adding that producers “aren’t playing that game” anymore.
In fact, producers apparently have a plan just in case some of the ladies hold out on their contracts. This includes having other women lined up for the parts and ready to go at a moment’s notice.
“They are going to have an extra new cast member on hand to replace anyone who isn’t working out,” the source noted.
By the sound of it, producers are gearing up for some major changes in the new season. While Edwards, Kim, and Kyle’s futures are questionable, it appears as though everyone else is safe. This means fans can expect to see at least some familiar faces when the reality series launches its seventh season.
Meanwhile, the seventh season of the hit reality show is currently reaching the end of Season 6. With only a couple more episodes to go, it will be interesting to see what happens behind the scenes and whether or not this affects what goes down in the reunion episodes.
