WWE News: ‘Total Divas’ Recap — Eva Marie Was Supposed To Be Champ By ‘WrestleMania 32’
John Cena and Nikki Bella were the focus of last week’s episode of Total Divas, as Nikki turned to her boyfriend for rehab advice after being diagnosed with a serious neck injury. Nikki and John take a backseat this week, as Brie Bella and husband Daniel Bryan invite Dean Ambrose, Renee Young, the Bella brother and his “plus one” to a healthy and healing vacation in Sedona, Arizona. Paige returns to the spotlight this week as well, as she and Alicia Fox meet a fan of Paige who has been inspired by the Anti-Diva to be true to himself and come out to his parents as gay.

Meanwhile, Mark Carrano and WWE Creative want Eva Marie (and Mandy) to try to come up with some good ideas to keep them on television. While Carrano talks to Miss “All Red Everything” about the possibility of going blonde, the keen observer will note a surprising comment he makes about the original plans for Eva Marie, NXT, and WrestleMania 32 weekend.
The following contains the full spoilers for Total Divas, Season 5, Episode 10 (“No Retreat”) that E! originally aired on Tuesday, March 22, at 9/8c.
Eva Marie: critical career decisions
It’s late November when this episode of Total Divas was taped, and Mark Carrano wants to talk to Eva Marie and Mandy about ideas to get both of them on TV, possibly together. And while spit-balling with the ladies, he let’s this little tidbit fly:
“Remember we talked about wanting you in Dallas to defend the WWE Divas Championship? How do we get there?”
Eva’s response was clear:
“I want that — Dallas — bad.”
As Eva Marie plans for Bayley at NXT and her first-ever title match, Carrano plants the idea that she should consider going blonde and bringing Mandy on as a tag team partner. After talking it over with the trainers at NXT and Natalya, Eva Marie decides to stick with the red and focus on her own brand. She was ultimately unsuccessful in winning the NXT Championship, but she put on a solid match. Obviously, she will not be defending the Divas Championship at WrestleMania this year.
Daniel Bryan and Mandy ruin vacation plans
The Bella kids planned a vacation in Sedona, Arizona, but Nikki appears on Total Divas this week just long enough to tell them her injured neck will prevent her from attending. Brie invites Renee Young in Nikki’s stead, and Young brings along the “Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose. Having spent good money on a rather lavish home for the trip, Daniel Bryan is annoyed when the others aren’t excited about his healthy and wholesome ideas for their time in Sedona. By the end of the episode, Bryan relaxes a little, and everyone goes home happy.
In a few segments used to set up next week’s episode, Natalya and Tyson “TJ” Kidd have a family vacation planned a few hours outside of Orlando. Natalya somewhat unintentionally invited Mandy and her whole family to come along. She finds out that Mandy plans to bring 15 people. The double-family vacation drama will play out next week.
Paige supports her gay fan coming out to his family
Paige has inspired many of her fans to embrace who they are and not to be ashamed of being themselves. One fan from Portland expresses that Paige has inspired him to come out to his family as gay, but he hasn’t done so yet and is very nervous about it. Paige volunteers herself and Alicia Fox to be there when he makes the announcement.
While some of the other Divas think Paige might be making a mistake, everything turns out okay in the end when the fan tells his family his secret.
Along with Nikki Bella, Rose Mendes was mostly absent from this week’s Total Divas.
