Lamar Odom: Reconciliation With Khloe Kardashian The ‘Pipe Dream’ That Keeps Him Inspired, Source Says

Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom are still married, but that doesn’t mean the pair are hooking up anytime soon.

Since Lamar Odom’s drug overdose in October, Khloe Kardashian has made it obvious that she and Lamar are not romantically involved. Sure, she called off their divorce while he was hospital bound, but it wasn’t because she wanted to get back together with the former NBA player. Instead, it was because, as his legal wife, she could continue to make medical decisions for her husband.

Now, a source is reporting that Lamar wants to convince Khloe to call off the divorce forever. According to a source for Hollywood Life, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star is providing daily inspiration to Lamar, who hopes to make a comeback in one of two ways: either as Khloe’s partner, or as a basketball player.

“Khloe has been his inspiration. He still has caregivers to keep an eye on him, but he’s been praticing basketball and hitting the gym and weight room. His dreams of returning to the NBA may be far from reality, but his hope of what might be possible is keeping him motivated to make progress and work hard every day,” the Hollywood Life source said. “Just like returning to the NBA may be a pipe dream, so is a reconciliation with Khloe, but both are dreams of his and keep him dedicated to work hard. If he can achieve either dream, NBA or get back with Khloe, it would be the ultimate comeback.”

Khloe and the former Los Angeles Laker were married in 2009 after a whirlwind courtship, and the pair filed for divorce in 2013. The divorce had not yet been finalized in October when Lamar Odom was found unconscious in a Las Vegas-area brothel and rushed to the hospital. Soon after it became obvious that Lammy’s recovery would take some time, Khloe withdrew the divorce paperwork, opting instead to remain married to Lamar. At the time, Kardashian was dating Houston Rockets player James Harden. The pair have since split.

Even though she’s remained married to Lamar and made it obvious that she still considers him to be her soul mate, Khloe has said repeatedly that she and Lamlam are not in a romantic place right now. On the March 9 episode of Kocktails with Khloe, Kardashian said she just wants Lamar to be happy.

“I don’t think anything, like, romantically about Lamar. I’m coming from a place of complete care and concern and I want Lamar’s well-being, but people find that so bizarre for some reason. I genuinely care about someone’s well-being and I want them to be happy. When you spend that many years with someone, they will always be in your life.”

But what if being with Khloe is what will make Lamar happy? Though Kardashian quickly shuts down rumors of hookups with Lamar, she hasn’t completely ruled out a reconciliation with her estranged husband. In fact, Kardashian has even gone so far as to say that reuniting with Odom would be her “best dream.”

After Odom was released from the hospital, it was believed that he had moved in with Khloe Kardashian in order to continued his rehab, as the drug overdose has forced him to relearn both physical and cognitive skills. It has since been reported that Lamar leased a house near to Khloe’s home.

Odom has made one official public appearance since the overdose when he accompanied Khloe and the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan to Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 3 launch at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
