‘Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ Rumors: Did Ben Affleck Rewrite The Script?
The world was rather shocked when Ben Affleck was announced as the Caped Crusader for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and beyond. Still, he’s about to make his debut as Batman when the movie opens in theaters this Friday. Yes, he does have a lot of experience behind the camera and with the pen, but it’s not known how much he had to do with the production of the film. Now, rumors are swirling about him again, but did Affleck really rewrite the script?
A report came out from US Weekly a couple of weeks ago that said Affleck simply “wasn’t thrilled” with the script for Batman V Superman, so he rewrote it. The script was written by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer, but one source said that Affleck needed to change it.
Apparently, he wasn’t just fighting crime and Superman, but also rewriting the script while in his bat-suit.
“(Ben) would go into wardrobe and get all suited up for the day in his Batman suit. Then he would sit around reworking the script. Ben wasn’t thrilled with it and would find himself on multiple occasions fixing it the day of.”
This is a report that shocked a lot of people because it was never said that Affleck had worked on the script that was already in place. Director Zack Snyder didn’t even really work on the script, as he was busy behind the camera.
Well, that rumor is finally coming around, and it has made its way to the person who is the subject of it all — Ben Affleck. At a news conference in Mexico City, Affleck was present for the world premiere of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. ComicBook.com said that he was actually asked about the rumor and, well, he’s not entirely sure how that whole thing came about.
“That is the dumbest rumor. I just like how if I was gonna go write, I would put on this bat suit first because it’s so comfortable to write in. I didn’t rewrite anything in any outfit, my underwear or otherwise.”
There are so many rumors flying around about this film and what could possibly happen in it when it hits theaters on Friday. Not only do the Batman V Superman rumors persist for the film itself, but also for what the future of the franchise may hold.
A lot of what takes place in Batman V Superman is going to set up the future for other films and eventually, Justice League. The inclusion of Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, Cyborg, and others will deliver years and years of films for Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment.Rumors have brought forth just who may appear in future films, and there are teases of Brainiac, Darkseid, Bizarro, and others. None of those have been confirmed by anyone associated with the film, but the signs are there.
There is a lot of star power in DC’s movie franchise as they compete with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
At least now, it is known that Ben Affleck didn’t take the entire pressure on his shoulders to star as Batman and work on the script, too.
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Mamoa, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Ezra Miller, Michael Shannon, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, and many more. It is set to hit theaters on March 25, 2016, and now it can be safely said that Affleck did no rewriting of the script while in the bat-suit.
