Miles Teller Prepared For His Han Solo Audition By Finally Watching ‘Star Wars’
If you haven’t seen any of the Stars Wars films yet don’t feel too bad; before his audition to play Han Solo, Miles Teller hadn’t seen any of the films either. During the 100th episode of MTV’s Josh Horowitz’s podcast, Happy Sad Confused, Teller came on the show and discussed Allegiant, Fantastic Four, and his audition for the new Han Solo film.
Earlier this week, a shortlist of actors to play the coveted role of young Han Solo was released. The list included Alden Ehrenreich (Beautiful Creatures), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction), and Taron Egerton (Kingsman), although it was also stated the list includes other actors. One other actor on that list was Teller.Although Teller was staying pretty quiet about the casting decisions for the new Han Solo film, he did admit that he read for the role and then admitted that he’d never seen any of the original Star Wars films until a few weeks before his first audition.
“I was like, ‘I should check this out,'” Teller said about the films.
Fans of course, were not impressed to hear this news and even think Teller shouldn’t have auditioned for the role.
@SFXmagazine I think that should automatically disqualify him from playing Han Solo, right?

Still, now that Teller has seen the films, he too is a fan of Han Solo, just like almost everyone else.
“I just love Harrison Ford,” Teller said. “I think [Han Solo is] a great character. I love his brand. So many guys would of played that part so wrong. And he has humor at the right times. Harrison Ford is a very big actor. When you see the facial expressions in the things he makes, he goes big. He’s always the coolest guy in the room.”Teller isn’t the only big Harrison Ford fan. Disney loves him as well and is even bringing him back to play his other iconic role, Indiana Jones. Earlier this week, according to Deadline, Disney announced Ford will be reprising his role in the fifth installment of the Indiana Jones franchise, set to hit theaters on July 19, 2019. Although fans were worried that Ford might be done with action films after he broke his leg while reprising the role of Han Solo for The Force Awakens, it seems fans had nothing to worry about.
There are some fans, though, that are very worried about a young Han Solo film.
Nobody wants a young Han Solo movie.

We need a petition to stop the Han Solo movie, no one but #HarrisonFord can play Han Solo! #StarWars #HanSolo

According to Entertainment Weekly, the new Han Solo Stars Wars film is set to release on May 25, 2018. It will be an independent film that shows how the young Han Solo earned his reputation before he became the notorious intergalactic smuggler, that fans now know him to be.
Now that a shortlist is out, with Teller’s name now also thrown in the ring, fans are letting their vote for who they think should be the new Han Solo be heard. There’s already strong teams for each actor on the shortlist, and although it may still be a while before fans know who will get the coveted role, everyone has their number one picks.
Alden Ehrenreich is a goddamn treasure, steals every scene he's in in Hail, Caesar! Definitely my pick on that Han Solo shortlist.
