‘Fifty Shades’ Newcomer Bella Heathcote Thinks Jamie Dornan Is ‘Super Handsome,’ Claims There Is A ‘Good Vibe’ On Set
Fifty Shades Darker newcomer Bella Heathcote is not concerned about being distracted by Jamie Dornan’s presence on set. The actress recently revealed how Dornan is much different in real life than the character he portrays in the hit erotic franchise. In fact, not only does Heathcote think of Dornan as a typical Irishman, but she also doesn’t find him “smoldering.”
“It’s so funny because Jamie, himself, is so not that,” Heathcote told People. “He’s a super laid back Irishman with a great sense of humor, so it’s weird to even imagine him as a smoldering thing, but I get it because he’s super handsome.”
Although fans may disagree with Heathcote, Dornan has admitted in the past that he doesn’t exactly relate to his onscreen character. In speaking to The Guardian, Dornan relayed how his personality is pretty much the exact opposite of the character he plays.
“I consider myself quite light-hearted, pretty easy-going, and I keep playing sick psychopath bastards!” he stated.
Along with playing one of the lead roles in Fifty Shades of Grey, Dornan plays the lead in the hit television series, The Fall. In both series, Dornan plays men who operate outside of the typical male figure, which is apparently something that Dornan is great at doing despite his misgivings.
For her part, International Business Times is reporting that Heathcote is known for her role in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. The actress is set to play the role of Leila in Fifty Shades Darker. Her character is a former lover of Christian’s and used to be his submissive partner. Her appearance in the movie is expected to make things a little complicated for Christian and his relationship with Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson). In fact, Leila is not only Christian’s former flame, but she is also mentally unstable and currently obsessed with winning him back. Naturally, her antics are going to create a lot of problems for Christian, who is trying his best to secure his future with Ana in the highly-anticipated sequel.
At this point, Heathcote’s character is expected to be included in some heated scenes with Dornan, especially considering her character’s past with Christian. The number of these scenes that will be included in the movie is unknown, though it will be interesting to see how she interacts with Ana.
In addition to her comments about Dornan, Heathcote also shared a few words about her experience on the set of the upcoming movie. For starters, Heathcote admitted that, as a newcomer, she had a few concerns going into the project.“I was worried because it’s coming into something that’s already established like feeling like the new kid at school, but everyone was really lovely and really welcoming and hilarious. It’s a really good vibe on set, which I didn’t expect,” Heathcote explained to People.
While she may be a new face on the project, Heathcote revealed that she had little trouble fitting in with the rest of the cast. Part of this had to do with the majority of the cast returning after the first film in the franchise, Fifty Shades of Grey.
“I feel like the first movie did so well, so everyone is more relaxed on this one. It’s just a really good environment to be in,” she stated.
Fifty Shades Darker is based on the bestselling books by E.L. James. Although Sam Taylor-Johnson helmed the first film, James Foley is directing the sequel.
Fifty Shades Darker is set to premiere in theaters on February 10, 2017, while the third film in the franchise, Fifty Shades Freed, will open a year later.
