‘Outlander’ Stars Sam Heughan And Caitriona Balfe Test Their Relationship In A Hilarious New Clip [Watch]

Outlander stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have treated fans with a number of exciting videos in the build up to the show’s highly anticipated second season. While the wait for Outlander’s new season continues to grow smaller, the actors recently participated in a special Q&A session where their friendship was tested in a fun way.

According to Scotland Now, the onscreen chemistry between Balfe and Heughan is based on their close friendship. Indeed, their heated romance was one of the reasons why Outlander was so popular in its freshman season. While the pair remains adamant that there isn’t anything romantic going on behind-the-scenes, they have acknowledged that they are best friends in real life.

In order to find out the extent of their friendship, the stars sat down and answered some basic questions about each other. The hilarious queries included facts about height, birth place, shoe size, favorite movie, and TV show, guilty pleasures, coffee preference, go to drink, signature dance moves, and dance face.

Balfe had the slight edge on how many answers she got correct, though Heughan managed to score a few points himself. However, both were in agreement with each other’s preferred dance move – which happens to be the Carlton – and their open-mouthed dance face.

Meanwhile, Scotland Now is reporting that Balfe and Heughan also sat down to answer a few questions generated by fans. The pair discussed what they consider the better qualities of each other and hinted at what is to come in Season 2.

When asked about what they admire about each other, Balfe shared that Heughan’s “kindness” and “thoughtfulness” were two qualities she liked best. For Heughan, Balfe’s “generosity of sharing a bloody mary” is something that he treasures about her.

Interestingly, the two were also asked to share three words that best describe the upcoming season. Considering their varied responses, fans are definitely in store for another great season. “Intrigue, heartbreak and closure,” Balfe stated, while Heughan added, “Fate, blood, red wine.”

At the same time, Heughan admitted that both seasons of Outlander have presented “their own challenges,” but the upcoming year “is more complex” for the characters. For her part, Balfe couldn’t help but express her excitement at the costumes in Season 2, which include quite the elegant lineup for her character.

Apart from their roles as Jamie and Claire in the hit time traveling series, the actors were also asked about which job off camera they would like to have. Apparently, Balfe has a little more aspirations than Heughan in this department.

“I would love to direct,” Balfe shared. “Then you get to work and collaborate with all of the departments. That would be a lot of fun.”

For his part, Heughan took a much different approach than his co-star. “The coffee guy,” he stated. “You get unlimited caffeine and you get to see everyone.”

The second season of Outlander will see Jamie and Claire heading for Paris, France, to stop the Jacobite Rebellion. In order to see their mission accomplished, the two will have to seek out the help of Bonnie Prince Charlie.

However, changing history isn’t the only thing on their agenda this time around. Along with their main mission, Jamie will be dealing with the fallout of last season’s trauma, which included his imprisonment and sexual assault, while Claire is carrying her first child.

Outlander’s second season is an adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling novel, Dragonfly in Amber. Fans can expect the hit series to return to television on April 9 on Starz.
