Trisha Yearwood Talks Being Nervous About Her Role In ‘The Passion’
It is almost time for the live musical The Passion, and now Trisha Yearwood is speaking out and revealing that she is actually nervous about her part on the show. Trisha has performed live in front of people all the time, but this one is a bit new for her. Taste of Country shared that Trisha was on Today and shared some of how she is feeling right now before the big show that airs this Sunday. Trisha sat down with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hagar to discuss it.

The Passion will take place in New Orleans, where it will be taped and aired live. Trisha Yearwood will play the Virgin Mary in a modern day depiction of Jesus Christ’s final hours on earth. Now, when it comes to the music for this show, Trisha Yearwood shared that it was all recorded separately, so she is only meeting the cast of the show two days before the big event. Trisha won’t have long to get used to them and prepare, but she seems ready for the challenge. Trisha Yearwood does perform a song by Lifehouse, and was kind of shocked how easily it fit into the musical.

Yearwood even shared what her husband, Garth Brooks, thinks about the show. Honestly, she thinks that her husband is nervous for her.
“He’s like, ‘I’m going to be your support however you want. If you want me to go to New Orleans and hold your hand I will. If you want me not to go, I won’t go. I don’t know what I want. I haven’t decided yet. I’ve still got a few days. He’s probably going to have to be there.”
As Today explained, networks have already done Grease, The Wiz, and The Sound of Music. Live musicals like this are the new thing and are going over great. Trisha teased that since playing the Virgin Mary, she feels like she can’t say a bad word at home. This is something that Trisha has never done before. The cast doesn’t know each other, but they will get to know each other well over these two days with non-stop rehearsal.
People shared that Trisha Yearwood got very emotional while recording the songs for this musical. These songs are modern, but they are going to fit right in with the movie. Here is what Trisha revealed about how she got emotional recording it.
“I’m having to sing songs that I’m going to be singing at the foot of the cross, and I had to be thinking about what was happening in the story when I was singing the song. I got very emotional, which is not the norm for me in the studio. That was the last time I’ve cried.”
Trisha Yearwood will sing several different songs in the movie. Expect to hear her sing Whitney Houston’s “My Love Is Your Love,” Jewel’s “Hands,” Jason Mraz’s “I Won’t Give Up,” Lifehouse’s “Broken” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone” from the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel. These are going to be performances that you do not want to miss from Trisha. Even though she has done concerts before, performing in a live musical like this one is a first for the country singer.
