Gwen Stefani wrote more than a few sweet songs about Blake Shelton for her recently-released album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like , so her cowboy beau was spoiled for choice when he decided to pick his favorite tune from the new record. Interestingly, Blake chose a song that reveals a detail about his divorce that he has not yet divulged.
Blake Shelton helped Gwen Stefani promote her new album on Twitter by letting his 16.3 million followers know that This Is What the Truth Feels Like was sitting pretty atop the iTunes album chart mere minutes after its release. Unfortunately, Blake wasn’t around to help Gwen celebrate his happy news — he’s currently on tour and had to be in Buffalo, New York, for a concert on Thursday night.

Blake Shelton doesn’t tweet about Gwen Stefani quite as often as she tweets about him, but he’s recently used social media to be a very supportive boyfriend. Over the last 24 hours, he’s posted almost half a dozen tweets about Gwen’s new album. In one of these tweets, he reveals that he’s a big fan of the song “Rare.”
Hey @gwenstefani … My favorite song on your album is “Rare”.. Just thought I’d let you know.????
— Blake Shelton (@blakeshelton) March 18, 2016
“Rare” is about someone Gwen Stefani admires greatly, and her fans were quick to guess that a certain cute cowboy who loves clownin’ around is the subject of the song. Gwen pretty much confirmed this when she playfully holla’d back at Blake on Twitter.
@blakeshelton hummmm really? Wonder who that one is about? Gx??????

Gwen Stefani later informed one of her Twitter followers that “Rare” is also her favorite song on This Is What the Truth Feels Like .
As Fox News points out, the lyrics in “Rare” seemingly reveal that Miranda Lambert left Blake Shelton, not the other way around. Gwen Stefani criticizes Miranda for tossing aside a rare gem like Blake, and she insults Miranda’s intelligence by calling her “stupid.”
“You’re rare, and I’m loving every second of it, don’t you know / You’re rare, and only a stupid girl would let it go,” Stefani sings.” She repeats the “stupid” line multiple times at the end of the song.
Perhaps Gwen Stefani thought that the “Rare” diss was deserved, because Blake has informed her that there’s some truth to the TMZ rumor that Miranda cheated on him .
However, “Rare” definitely isn’t meant to be one big Miranda Lambert diss; most of the lyrics are poetic praise for Blake Shelton. Gwen Stefani compares her boyfriend to a “sapphire,” a “rolling stone,” and “moon shine when the curtains close.” She also says that Blake is “perfection” and “a sparkle in a deep black hole.”
The “deep black hole” is likely a metaphor for the painful place Gwen was in after her own marriage failed. Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale announced that they were getting a divorce last August, and rumors soon surfaced that their 13-year marriage fell apart because Gavin cheated on Gwen with their children’s nanny. Gwen has never confirmed this or shared any details about why she divorced Gavin , but she did drop a hint that the story of their split is a tabloid-worthy tale.
“If I could, I would just tell you everything, and you would just be in shock. It’s a really good, juicy story,” Gwen Stefani told the New York Times .
Blake Shelton has remained similarly tight-lipped about his divorce from Miranda Lambert, which was announced in July of last year. Blake recently told CMT After MidNite that fans shouldn’t expect to hear any shocking revelations about their split when they listen to his upcoming album, If I’m Honest .
“It’s not like there’s all these juicy details [in the record],” Blake revealed.
“But [country music] lends itself to emotions and things that you go through when you go through a divorce and, more so, the getting over that and moving on and finding someone else.”
Blake Shelton might not want to share all of the dirty details of his divorce with his curious fans, but he did drop a hint that he took Miranda’s decision to dump him pretty hard.
“The last year and a half of my life has literally blown up in my face,” Blake revealed.
Gwen and Blake are spending so much time together that they’re starting to talk like one another. While speaking to the New York Times about the demise of her marriage, Gwen made the very similar comment below.
“My life was literally blown up into my face.”
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are truly meant to be, and they’re obviously ready to share some of their truths with their fans. Gwen shares her honest feelings about Blake in This Is What the Truth Feels Like , and Blake will likely share his true feelings about Gwen in If I’m Honest , which will drop on May 20.
